Black Eyelash Glue vs Clear Lash Glue - The Lash Professional

Black Eyelash Glue vs Clear Lash Glue - The Lash Professional

Black Eyelash Glue vs Clear Lash Glue

December 26, 2018 by The Lash Professional.

There’s a time and a place for everything! And yes, that even includes researching the different types of lash adhesive. Sensitive vs. standard, 5ml vs 10ml, 1-second dry time vs. 5-second dry time, and last but not least, black eyelash glue vs clear glue. As you probably already know, there is a world of adhesive options to choose from. But, which glue is best for you and your clientele?

To keep things simple, today, we’re going to cover our main question: Black eyelash glue or clear lash glue? But first, we should address our preliminary question. Why does glue color matter anyway?

Why Does It Matter

Similarly to how you wouldn’t put J-Curl lashes on a client with downward facing lashes or volume, D-Curl lashes on a client who wants “natural”, you wouldn’t use the wrong lash adhesive on a client either. After all, client satisfaction is one of your main priorities! With that being said, in order to give your clients the look they’re after, using the correct glue is critical.

So when it comes time to decide between black eyelash glue vs clear, you have an important decision on your hand. Luckily, the choice is made easier with a few tips and tricks.

Black Eyelash Glue

To start off, let’s cover black eyelash glue. This lash glue is the most common adhesive to use on clients! Many of the clientele that walk through your door will have dark eyelashes, making them a perfect candidate for black eyelash glue! Since their lashes have a naturally dark tint, the black eyelash glue will blend right in and add slight definition to each lash.

At The Lash Professional, we offer several options for black eyelash adhesives. All glues have a light, liquid consistency and come in 5ml – perfect for any lash artist who doesn’t want to waste glue! You will find the following black eyelash adhesives available in our shop:

Additionally, as a side note, be sure to pay attention to dry times when selecting the best glue. Experienced eyelash technicians may opt for lash adhesives with a quicker dry time, while beginners would benefit from using a slow drying option. This allows time for correction in case the initial lash does not bond correctly!

Clear Eyelash Glue

Although many lash technicians do not use clear eyelash glue as frequently, you will find it helpful to have clear adhesive available. For clients that have brown or colored lashes, clear eyelash glue is the way to go! This will allow for a seamless bond between the extension and the natural lash.

Additionally, if your client has experienced an allergic reaction to black lash adhesive, it may be due to the Carbon Black component used to tint black eyelash glue. Since carbon black is present in most other adhesives, clear eyelash glue might be the best option for sensitive clients!

At The Lash Professional, we carry Invisa-bond Clear Eyelash Adhesive for sensitive or light-lash clients! This clear lash glue comes in 5ml, has a 1-second drying time, and can hold for up to 8 weeks. Say hello to lovely, long-lasting lashes!

How do Eyelash Extensions Work?

January 14, 2019 by The Lash Professional.

If you’re anything like us, you probably can’t get over the new beauty fad that completely took 2018 by storm and is already making its stamp on 2019. Of course, we’re talking about eyelash extensions! At one time, false eyelash strips were exclusively used for glam makeup statements or perhaps prom night. Now, however, eyelash extensions give women a flawless day-to-day look that ranges from flirty “girl next door” to a bold night out on the town. But, similar to any other beauty trend, it’s normal to ask: How do eyelash extensions work anyway?

What are eyelash extensions?

Before we go into how eyelash extensions work, we will start with the basics. What are eyelash extensions? Put simply, eyelash extensions are thin fibers that resemble natural eyelashes. Using permanent adhesive, these thin fibers are attached to each natural eyelash giving a lengthened appearance of each lash. And, spoiler alert! They look amazing.

Eyelash extensions are typically made of mink, synthetic silk, or synthetic mink. While expensive, mink eyelashes are generally the most natural looking, comfortable, and soft. However, they are also the thinnest and last the shortest amount of time. Synthetic extensions, on the other hand, are most common and tend to be the thickest and heaviest appearance.

How do eyelash extensions work?

The first step of getting your lashes done is selecting the best eyelash shape and size according to your eye shape and desired look. Don’t worry — your eyelash technician will do this for you! Next, while laying on your back, an experienced licensed eyelash technician will place protective pads over your lower lashes and under eyes and have you close your eyes.

Using precise tweezers, your lash artist will take a single eyelash extension, apply adhesive, and place carefully on one of your natural lashes one millimeter above the root. If you opt for volume lashes in a more glamorous, open-eyed look, the process will only differ slightly. Rather than applying just one extension to each lash, your lash artist will first glue a few synthetic lashes together to create a fan. From here, the same process as noted above will be used.

How do I get eyelash extensions?

Now, onto the most important question – how can I get my own eyelash extensions? Thankfully, whichever city you find yourself in, there are most likely plenty of options for you! When selecting your lash artist, be sure to look for someone who is licensed and has adequate experience. You can either find a lash artist who works independently or a technician that works as an extension of a salon. If you want to go to the experts, you can even go to a lash studio that specializes in lashes!

Just remember to do your research and pay attention to reviews. Even if you see someone who has cheaper pricing, remember – you get what you pay for!

Where can I learn how to apply classic lashes?

If joining our girl gang of eyelash technicians sounds like the perfect career option for you, look no further than The Lash Professional! Submerse yourself in the world of lash extensions, meet other women in the same space, and learn all that you can about lashes at our two-day training!

How to Care for Red Eyes After Eyelash Extensions

February 18, 2021 by The Lash Professional.

As eyelash extension technicians, we hold a high responsibility to care for our clients and ensure their overall health and happiness. For this reason, there are several procedures and safety measures, like using sensitive eyelash glue, put in place. However, working in such a delicate area, there are bound to be the occasional mishap.

Today, we are talking about red eyes after eyelash extensions! Red eyes can occur from a number of reasons – allergic reactions, low-quality lash extension primers, harsh lash glue, poor lash salon hygiene, and more! Your job as a lash artist is to foresee the potential issues and proactively care for them.

Get ahead of the curve! Before a panicked client calls you at some ungodly hour, learn how to care for red eyes after eyelash extensions with these simple tips. Give your client the best care with these tips for red eyes after eyelash extensions.

        Administer immediate care

First and foremost, if the client is complaining of irritation or burning sensation while in the salon, get ahead of the potential ramifications and administer immediate care. Comfort the client and reassure them that this is a normal reaction that can be cared for. Next, provide the client with a cold compress to soothe the irritated area. The cold compress is more or less a band-aid solution for red eyes after eyelash extensions; however, it will comfort the client as the healing process begins.

        Advice for short-term care

It may take several hours or even days for red eyes to heal after the initial irritation. To increase client comfort during the healing process topical creams like cortisone cream and Benadryl can be used to manage symptoms. For many, the combination of cold compresses, cortisone cream, and Benadryl is just what they need to bounce back to their former selves.

        Seek professional help

In most cases, allergy eye drops, cold compresses, Benadryl, and topical creams should resolve the clients red eyes. However, if the red eyes persist longer than two to three days or for extreme allergic reactions the client should seek professional help from a doctor. In addition, you should offer a complimentary lash removal to the client at this point to prevent further eye irritation.

Take responsibility for your client’s wellbeing.

Your client’s health and wellbeing should be your biggest priority when applying eyelash extensions. It is a great honor to have the opportunity to enhance the natural beauty of women with eyelash extensions. Nevertheless, this opportunity comes with great responsibility. While allergic reactions can happen, it’s important to apply appropriate preventive and safety measures. This means confirming if the client has any allergies or sensitivities to your adhesives. In addition, it is important to properly clean your tools and work area between clients to prevent cross-contamination.

This may also mean revisiting proper application techniques through training or refresher courses. The Lash Professional has several in-person and online lash extension training programs to correct and perfect your technique to industry standards.

Where would we be without our favorite pair of tweezers? The tools of a lash artist are paramount to her success. After all, would you trust a lash technician who uses faulty equipment? Combined with exceptional technique, the appropriate tools can mean big opportunities for up and coming lash artists!

Stay tuned because we have the low-down on what eyelash extension application tools the professionals are using to create flawless looks!

Lash Like A Pro With These Eyelash Extension Application Tools

        Tweezers

We said it once, and we’ll say it again, we don’t know where we would be without our eyelash tweezers! This little tool is an extension of your hand and helps you place lash extensions precisely. Don’t sell yourself short – purchase a set of tweezers that allow you to maneuver the delicate area with care.

        Eyelash Glue

Listen up, lash babes, this is important! The eyelash glue that you use matters. Glue applied near the eye can cause a host of preventable issues like red eye and allergic reactions. In this case, it is important to have a gentle glue that is safe to use near the eye.

          Primer

We can’t express to you how important this eyelash application tool is! Primer is used before lash extensions are used to clean the client’s natural lashes of oils and debris. Ultimately, the primer makes the application process smoother. In addition, it increases the longevity of the extensions.

          Eyelash Gel Pads

No more pesky fly-away lashes! Eyelash gel pads secure the lower lashes in place to allow for a clean an efficient application. Don’t accidentally snatch a few natural lashes when your applying lash extensions!

          Eyelash Tape

Again, we are all about efficiency! If gel pads aren’t your gig, try a few strategically placed pieces of medical tape to secure the lower lashes out of the way.

          Lash Remover

Don’t get caught without this tool! It may seem counterproductive to keep lash remover on-hand; however, it is useful to keep in your professional eyelash extensions kit. Lash remover is particularly useful when you have clients that want ill-placed lashes that need to be removed before a new set of lashes are applied.

          Nano Mister

What is a nano mister? It is a small device that sprays a micro-mist of water. Even more, a nano mister is used after the extensions are applied to cure the eyelash extension glue. As a result, it takes less time for eyelash glue to dry and, in most cases, an efficient dry makes it possible for lash extensions to last longer, and hold up over time.

          Lash Brush

Fan and separate the lashes with a lash brush! Even more, disposable brushes make for a useful client souvenir so that they can maintain their fluffy lashes at home.

Use Your Eyelash Extension Application Tools Like A Boss

Those are only a few of our favorite tools that you will undoubtedly use at some point in your lash tech career. However, a word from the wise, without the proper lash extension technique and knowledge, not even the best tools can send you skyrocketing to the top of the diva’s list.

B Curl vs C Curl Lashes: Which One Should You Use

June 25, 2019 by The Lash Professional.

Options. In today’s society, options are the name of the game. Shoes for every occasion, sunglasses for every boss girl moment, and lashes for every lash babe!

If you’ve lashed for any amount of time, you’ll know that one size does not fit all. In fact, each lash is classified by their weight, length, diameter, and curl. In addition, there is a meticulous process in place to determine which lash best your client’s eye shape and achieves the look of the client’s dreams.

So, how do you know which to use? Even better, how do you determine which to use on a client?

There is a common debate amongst lash artists: B vs C curl lashes. Which should you use? And, what is the difference?

We’ve got the quick and dirty for our novice lash lovers that want to learn more about lash extensions or want to settle the debate of B vs C curl lashes.

B vs C Curl: Which One Should You Use?

          B Curl

Classicly wispy is what comes to mind when we think of the coveted B curl eyelash extension. The base of this lash extension is fairly straight; however, has a slight lift at the end of the lash. Like the J curl, this extension resembles the look of a natural lash. Because of this, the B curl lash is the perfect extension for clients who want an effortlessly natural look! Overall, this extension will add substantial volume and length-but not curl!- without appearing overly dramatic.

Quick and Dirty: Natural curl. Mimics the look of a naturally uncurled eyelash.

          C Curl

How to Clean Eyelash Extensions: Tips to Tell Clients

July 5, 2019 by The Lash Professional.

If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a million times — daily maintenance is a must for lash ladies who expect the most out of their eyelash extensions! A daily lash extension routine can increase the longevity of the lashes and enhance the overall appearance to keep them looking fresh.

Keep reading to learn a few of our favorite tips and tricks on how to clean eyelash extensions that you’ll need to share with your clients before you send them on their way. In addition, we’ve thrown in a few sneaky hygiene tips to extend the life of a new set of lashes!

4 Tips to Cleaning Eyelash ExtensionS

Before your client leaves the shop, make sure they are equipped with these tips on how to clean and maintain their eyelash extensions!

            Tip #1: Use Mild Cleanser

It goes without saying, but your client should use a mild cleanser daily to remove excess debris and oils. Bonus points for recommending an oil-free foaming eyelash cleanser to help your clients refresh their lashes at home! Overall, with regular maintenance, clients can maximize the life of their lash extensions.

            Tip #2: Brush Daily

Brushing eyelash extensions can work wonders for clients who want to extend the life of their lashes! Daily brushing with a reusable or disposable lash brush can remove any excess debris that gets caught in long lashes throughout the day. In addition, this process can fan out the lashes, fixing any clumped and straggling sections. An easy trick to remembering to brush lash extensions is to brush them at the same time your client would brush their hair or teeth.

            Tip #3: Avoid Excess Oils

We’re all for natural skincare solutions! However, we’re going to have to pass on the oil cleansing method and any other makeup removers and cleansers that use oil to clean out the pores. Ultimately, the oils break down the eyelash extension glue used to adhere the extensions to the natural lash. Take the time to warn your clients of hidden oils found in mascara, face washes, and makeup removers.

Tip #4: Scale Back Eye Makeup

One easy tip on how to keep your eyelashes clean between fills is to scale back on eye makeup. This reduces the need to harshly scrub and brush at existing extensions. At the end of the day, the less your client has to needlessly come into contact with their lashes, the less likely they are to accidentally remove lashes. Offer your client helpful alternatives to ease their need for eye makeup, such as a reusable lash wand to fan out the lashes for a fresh-faced look instead of mascara. And, if they absolutely have to use mascara, offer a water-soluble and oil-free lash extension safe mascara.

            How to Clean Eyelash Extensions

Cleaning your client’s eyelash extensions is crucial in extending the life of their luscious look, so we’re giving you step-by-step instructions on how to wash eyelash extensions.

            1. Remove any eye makeup with an oil-free remover. Wipe away from the lid to prevent any damage, and avoid using cotton balls that may get caught in your lashes.
            2. Applying a small amount of gently foaming cleanser, gently cleanse the lashes in a circular motion using an eyelash extension cleansing brush.
            3. Carefully rinse away the cleanser with a water dispenser and pat (not rub!) your lashes dry. Before opening your client opens their eyes, brush through the lashes with a micro brush to reshape the now-clean lashes.

D vs J Curl: Which is Better for Your Client?

            D Curl

This eyelash extension puts the ‘D’ in Diva! These sassy lashes create a dramatic, open-eyed appearance that is sought after by many clients. The D curl eyelash extension provides the most lift and curl for a striking eyelash. Even more, these lashes are perfect for clients with downturned eyes! Place a few at the outer corner of the eye to create the allusion of an alert and vibrant eye. You can opt for a Classic D curl or a Volume D curl lash for a bit more drama!

Quick and Dirty: Get the most bang for your buck! These lashes don’t disappoint in the lift or curl department.

            J Curl

Lash artists, do you have a client who wants volume without the extra curl? J curl lash extensions are the perfect alternative! J Curl lashes add length and volume without the curliness of a D curl lash. Overall, this lash is a beautiful and distinctive shape for clients that want a natural set of lashes. However, be wary of clients with downward facing lashes. The J Curl may overexaggerate this feature creating the appearance of closed, sleepy morning eyes. In this case, it may be appropriate to consider B or C curl eyelash extension.

Quick and Dirty: The J Curl eyelash extension provides the least amount of curl of all of the lash shapes. Add volume and length without an intense curl!
