Whatever lead you to this blog, whatever has made you want to become a lash technician, we’re happy to join your lash journey! The Lash Professional has 12 years of experience in the industry, and we know exactly what it takes to become an eyelash technician. And, a good one!

What Are Eyelash Extensions, Anyways?

It’s important to understand what you’re getting into before you’re too deep into the lash world and realize it just isn’t for you. We want to be sure you’re making the right choice from the very start! What are friends for?

What exactly are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are made of synthetic fibers that are formed to look like a natural lash. They come in different curls, diameters, and lengths. These awesome extensions are applied one by one on the natural eyelash with a cyanoacrylate-based lash adhesive. The cyanoacrylate-based adhesive is an instant bonding super glue! These bad boys add more thickness, curl, and length to the natural lashes. They also feel practically weightless! And as you know, eyelash extensions just make you feel so freakin’ pretty! They are the best thing ever.

Eyelash Technicians Needs Good Eyes and Steady Hands

Lash artist’s work very, very close to client’s eyes. Because of this, it’s extremely important that you have good eyesight and steady hands. Even with The Lash Professional’s great lash training programs, you will still need to have good eyesight and steady hands to actually perform the lash service.

Eyesight

Have you had your eyes checked recently? Being able to see well will enable you to perform the lash service and perform the lash service well. You see, you’re applying extensions one by one to natural lashes, so without keen eyesight, you won’t be able to do this effectively. Some lash technicians even wear magnification glasses to help them see those little bitty, bitty hairs. Magnification glasses don’t work for everyone though. They can affect your depth perception, so keep this mind before making the purchase.

Steady Hands

When you apply lash extensions you will be using extra sharp tweezers in both of your hands. With these extra-sharp tweezers, you will have to isolate a natural eyelash, pick up an extension, dip the extension into the lash adhesive and then apply it to a natural lash. Most people aren’t used to using both of their hands to do precise, detailed work, especially around such a delicate area like the eyes. Having steady hands will help you tremendously. Some lash artists avoid drinking too much caffeine, and some avoid caffeine altogether when they’re lashing. Whatever you need to do to have steady hands, do it! It’s almost impossible to apply eyelash extensions without it!

Become a Certified Lash Professional

It might seem easy but applying eyelash extensions is a hard skill and even harder to be good at. Every lash technician should 100% take a lash training class. I highly, highly recommend putting time and effort into your research to find the best lash training too. Girl, they are not all the same! An extensive lash training will teach and show you everything you need to know to become a successful lash artist.

Practice Your Lash Extensions Skills
