 New Mexico Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists, 

Step 1: Choose Your Path – Cosmetology or Esthetics

Decide whether you want to pursue a cosmetology or esthetics license. Both licenses allow you to perform eyelash extensions, but they differ in scope and training hours.

-Cosmetology License: Covers a broad range of beauty services, including hair, nails, skin care, and lashes. This path requires more training hours but offers versatility in services you can provide.

-Esthetics License: Focuses primarily on skin care and related services, including eyelash extensions. This path requires fewer training hours and is ideal if you're passionate about skin and lash services.
