How to Care For Eyelash Extensions

How to Care For Eyelash Extensions

How to Care For Eyelash Extensions

September 25, 2020 by The Lash Professional.

Eyelash extensions are a wonderful investment. But if you don’t care for them appropriately, your lash extensions may not stand the test of time. Before you hit the streets to show off your look, take note of these eyelash extension aftercare instructions. After all, your lashes will only look as good as you allow them.

Effortlessly gorgeous lashes? Check. Keep them that way by learning how to care for eyelash extensions.

Eyelash Extension Care Dos and Don’ts

Want lashes that last? Of course, you do! That’s why learning how to take care of eyelash extensions is so important.

The eyelash extension care commandments below might take some getting used to. But once you settle into your lash loving routine, it will be a breeze. Let’s jump into the dos and don’ts of taking care of lash extensions!

Do Keep Extensions Clean

This one is pretty obvious, but you would be surprised to find out how many people fail to do this!

An important step in taking care of eyelash extensions is making sure that they are clean. Here’s how:

  1. Remove your makeup and gently cleanse your extensions with an oil-free liquid makeup remover or face wash.
  2. Take extra care to wipe the extensions with a wet cotton pad as a dry pad could catch onto your lashes.
  3. Consider using a lash wand. This handy tool helps brush away excess dirt or oils (more on this later).

Keep in mind that your eyelash extension boutique may carry a cleanser in-house or have a recommended lash cleanser that you can purchase. If you do nothing else, lash babes, remember this one tip – clean your lashes!

Don’t Use Oils in Your Face Routine

Did you know that excess oils can reduce the lifespan of your lashes? Yup, oils break down the lash glue that holds your lengthy lashes in place. So, if you want those lash extensions to last, don’t make it hard for them to hold on!

Common products like skincare serums, eye creams and lotions contain oils that can dissolve the eyelash glue. Opt for water or gel-based products, and check ingredient labels before slathering on new products.

Get this— lots of mascaras also contain oils. Take a deep breath; you don’t have to put down the mascara wand forever! There are mascara products made exclusively for eyelash extensions that won’t affect your extensions. Take care to apply this specially-made mascara only to the tips of your lashes and rock your glam girl look.

Do Schedule Lash Refills

Taking care of eyelash extensions means paying attention to the needs of your lashes. The more time that passes, the harder it is to keep your lashes voluminous. One of the best methods to keep your eyelash extensions fresh and full is to schedule regular refills with your lash tech. This may seem like a money drain, but regular lash maintenance can actually save you money.

If you wait too long to refill your lash extensions, your lash tech might require you to purchase a full set to restore them to their former glory. Book a meeting with your lash tech and see what their recommendations are when it comes to scheduling refills. And don’t be afraid to ask this lashing guru about eyelash extension care tips.

Don’t Soak Your Lashes

Similar to excess oils, too much moisture may break down the eyelash glue. No, your lashes won’t fall out excessively in the shower or droop from a light rain, but water can affect the overall look of the lashes. The best practice is to avoid any excess moisture. Now isn’t the time for sauna trips or facial steam treatments!

If sunbathing, sweating and splashing around are part of your regular routine, we’ve got you covered. Learn how to care for eyelash extensions in the summer months here.

Do Brush Your Lashes

When we give our clients advice on how to take care of eyelash extensions, brushing is always on the list. Long lashes are beautiful, but they can also trap debris and dirt. The solution is simple— make brushing your lash extensions part of your daily routine. For more tips on maintaining pristine lashes, check out what lash professionals had to say about cleaning eyelash extensions.

Don’t Use an Eyelash Curler

If you’re anything like us, you have a few beauty tools you just can’t live without. If a lash curler is on that list, this eyelash extension care tip might be hard to handle. The truth is that you don’t need an eyelash curler when you have lash extensions.

In fact, a traditional lash curler can do more harm than good to your extensions. You might end up with an unsightly bend in the lashes that won’t go away. The good news is that your lash technician will choose extensions with a curlthat meets your desired look. So put down the curler while the extensions are in.

Do Enjoy Your Lashes

Eyelash extensions are a worthwhile investment for ladies who want to speed up their morning routine and achieve an effortlessly flawless look. Yes, you should learn how to care for eyelash extensions, but you should also enjoy those beauties while they last!

It’s a rough world out there if you have eyelash extensions, but with these tips, taking care of eyelash extensions is straightforward and simple. Now that you’ve learned how to take care of eyelash extensions, you can rock them with confidence!

Do You Need Coating Sealant for Eyelash Extensions?

Do You Need Coating Sealant for Eyelash Extensions?

Do you need coating sealant for eyelash extensions?

February 18, 2021 by The Lash Professional.

Look at you! You're at the top of your lash game, and yet you never hesitate to continue your education in the eyelash extension field. There are still some things you're unclear about, particularly when it comes to caring for your clients' lashes. For instance, once lash extensions have been applied, what is the best way to help those lashes stay attached to your clients’ natural lashes strongly and for as long as possible?

On that topic, lash artists are usually taught that a lash extension sealant is an absolutely necessary part of the lash extension process. An eyelash extension sealer is basically to lash extensions what a topcoat is to nail polish. There is a range of products out there that claim to do this the best and most effectively. You have to be careful with lash extension sealants, though –– you can't just put on anything on those beauties!

Why You're Taught To Use a Lash Extension Sealant

The goal with sealants is to provide an eyelash extension protective coating without damaging all of the work you've put into applying those lashes. Since anything with oil in it is not good for eyelash extensions, lash extension sealants should be water-soluble. Above all, you don't want any ingredients that will weaken the glue.

How Eyelash Extension Sealer Is Applied

Now, on to the nitty gritty details, such as applying lash extension sealant to eyelash extensions.

How lash extension sealant is applied is pretty straightforward; depending on the product, there may be a brush you use that will remind you of a nail polish or mascara brush. It is simply applied as directed. But, there's a catch: You can't usually apply lash extension sealant right away.

There's a Waiting Period

Clients should wait a few days to a week after the lash extensions have been done to allow the adhesive to fully dry/cure, which may cause a bit of anxiety; what if something happens to their lashes in the meantime? You can ease the anxiety and speed up or even replace the process with a mister, which is an effective means of curing or "sealing" eyelash extensions quickly.

More on that, coming up!

An Alternative To Lash Extension Sealers

Your clients know that having eyelash extension sealer on their lashes helps their extensions last longer, and eliminates any need to come in too soon after their initial appointment for a fill. They're happy, as this can save them time and money. While the use of lash extension sealant can indeed give your clients peace of mind, what they may not like is the idea of waiting 24 to 48 hours (or longer) to be able to apply it.

A Different Way

Why do they have to wait? What if there were a different way? Well, the good news is, there is another way.

Rather than waiting several days to apply lash extension sealant infused with a whole bunch of different ingredients, you can achieve the same results for your clients in a wholly natural way. The Lash Professional can show youwhat exactly to use, andhow to use it. Let's get to it!

Without a doubt, a dedicated lash extension sealant can be a good investment, but because you can't usually apply it right away, it's not really efficient. Again, anything can happen between the initial application of lashes and the first application of sealer. Why take a chance? The wait is, obviously, not ideal.

Get Yourself a Nano Mister

You can and should get the ball rolling on prolonging the life of your clients' lash extensions (which will make them infinitely more satisfied with your services) by starting to seal them at the end of their appointment with the use of natural, distilled water froma nano mister.

A nano mister, like this one from The Lash Professional, helps the adhesive on your clients' eyelash extensions cure faster. It sprays just the right amount of mist, for just the right amount of time. This ensures the interaction of the hydrogen in the water with the active ingredient in eyelash extension glue, and the nano mister's automatic timer prevents the spread of too much moisture.

In the event your clients still want to use a lash extension sealant, they can do it after you've usedthe nano mister; after all, you've already cut down the curing time! And, there's every chance that the use of the nano mister will provide more than enough sealing strength to last your clients.

Seal the Deal On a Nano Mister from The Lash Pro!

As we've seen, there are new and innovative ways to cure and seal your clients' eyelash extensions without having to wait too long. The Lash Professional has the goods that can help you cure the adhesive on your clients' eyelash extensions effectively and naturally.

Yes, The Lash Pro has everything you need –– from lash packs, gel pads, glue, and (of course) an all-natural eyelash extension "sealer" in the form ofthe nano mister –– to ensure the longevity and beauty of your clients' lashes. Whether you need to stock up on lash packs, or are intrigued about the nano mister, visit and shop at The Lash Professional today!

Michigan Eyelash Extension Certification Requirements 2022

March 17, 2022 by The Lash Professional.

Calling all Michiganders! Are you a lash-loving babe looking into how to become a lash tech in Michigan? If so, it’s time to learn how to acquire the appropriate certifications. In addition to creativity and a love for lashes, you’ll need these certifications if you want to land a good job. Figuring out the Michigan lash tech requirements should be your first step in the journey to becoming a lash specialist in 2022.

Do you need a license to do eyelash extensions in Michigan? Here’s everything you need to know about Michigan eyelash extension certification requirements in 2022.

How To Become a Lash Tech In Michigan

So, let’s get started. To become a lash tech in Michigan, you’ll need occupational licensing. What is this, you ask? Occupational licensing refers to the official credentials that you must acquire before professionally working in a certain industry.

Beauticians and estheticians who aspire to become lash techs in Michigan must make sure certain prerequisites are met before opening their businesses, or they may suffer from fines and other penalties. And no one wants to be stuck with hefty fines before they even start, right?

Lash-loving ladies who want to become technicians in Michigan should understand that requirements vary by state. This means that your credentials from California, New York, or elsewhere won’t be enough to practice in Michigan. Sorry!

Michigan law says the following about Limited Cosmetology License Requirements, which you’ll need to practice in most salons across the state:

• Lash technicians are referred to in Michigan law as Estheticians, who normally focuses on skincare services, but for this purpose, it includes eyelash applications

• Licensed estheticians must be at least 17 years old

• Licensed estheticians must “be of good moral character”

• This usually means you cannot have a criminal history or public history of gross moral wrongdoing

• Have an education equivalent to the completion of the ninth grade

• Have completed at least 400 hours of training in a licensed school of cosmetology

• OR worked as an apprentice for at least 6 months in a licensed cosmetology establishment where skincare services are rendered

• Have successfully passed an examination

Michigan Lash Tech Requirements: Before Your Exam

Have you completed at least 400 hours of training in a licensed school? Or, have you worked as an apprentice for at least 6 months at a licensed cosmetology establishment? If so, you’re nearly ready to take the State of Michigan’s exam — but there are some other things to take care of, first.

Before you apply to take the formal exam, visit the State of Michigan’s MyLicense Website. There, you’ll need to actually apply for your license before taking the exam. You should see “cosmetology” in the left-hand column, highlighted in a picture below.

If you’re having trouble, there’s a downloadable and printable guide for applying for your license. The State of Michigan has also provided a video to the public for applying for general new licenses in the state.

You can find more background information about the examination process on how to become a lash tech in Michigan at the Michigan Board of Cosmetology's official webpage on the subject.

Michigan Lash Tech Requirements: Taking Your Exam

Once Michigan reviews your age, hours of training, and other requirements to determine if you’re eligible to take the exam, you need to pay a fee. Remember that examination fees are nonrefundable in Michigan, so plan your financial payments and study sessions out ahead of time to make sure you pass.

It may cost you up to $167 to take the exam.

Remember: learning how to become a lash tech in Michigan takes time. If this is your first time registering, you must contact PSI (the company overseeing licensing exams for Michigan) and allow 2 weeks for processing your initial application.

Ready to schedule your eyelash exam? Visit psiexams.com at any time of the day, or schedule with a PSI registrar Monday-Friday between 7:30 AM-10:00 PM, at (855) 579-4635.

Make sure you bring proper identification to your exam to verify your identity! A state-issued driver’s license, U.S. passport, or state-issued ID card should suffice.

How To Become a Lash Tech In Michigan With Ease

So, do you need a license to do eyelash extensions in Michigan? As of 2022, you’ll need 400 hours of training (or 6 months as an apprentice) and must pass the Michigan Board of Cosmetology exam to secure your licensing. Colorado Eyelash Extension Certification Requirements 2022

February 18, 2021 by The Lash Professional.

Let's say you have a plan to become the most in-demand lash artist in Colorado. You know you have the drive to succeed, but do you have everything else you need?

As in most fields, you surely know that the more qualifications you have, the better. But when providing services like eyelash extensions, the list of qualifications you need isn't just about the skills. While requirements vary from state to state, it's also about whether you're licensed or not.

So, if you're researching how to become a lash tech in Colorado, and you're curious as to whether or not you need a license, look no further. The answer is a resounding and unequivocal "Yes!"

Colorado Lash Tech Requirements

Yes, you absolutely need to be licensed in Colorado, either as a cosmetologist or esthetician, in order to professionally apply eyelash extensions in The Centennial State.

If you're looking for the fine print about Colorado lash tech requirements, according to the definitions detailed in Article 105 of Colorado's Barber and Cosmetologist Practice Act, "cosmetology" includes, but is not limited to, any one or a combination of the following acts or practices: Arranging, dressing, curling, waving, cleansing, cutting, singeing, bleaching, coloring, or similar work upon the hair of a person by any means and, with hands or a mechanical or electrical apparatus or appliance or by the use of cosmetic or chemical preparations; manicuring or pedicuring the nails of a person; giving facials, applying makeup, giving skin care, or applying eyelashes involving physical contact with a person;

In addition, the Colorado Barber and Cosmetologist Practice Act further defines an "esthetician" as "any person who engages in any one or more of the following practices not for the treatment of disease or physical ailments," including but not limited to "Giving facials, applying makeup, giving skin care, or applying eyelashes, involving physical contact, to any person."

Which license you choose to get is up to you, but it's generally less expensive, and requires less time, to become a licensed esthetician than to become a cosmetologist.

Why You Need a License as a Lash Tech

Acquiring a Colorado state cosmetology license or esthetician license to do eyelash extensions can seem burdensome and time-consuming, but think about the message having one sends to your clients: That license is reassurance that you are truly qualified to apply eyelash extensions. It's for their benefit and protection, as much as your own!

You can take state-certified classes, and the credit hours you learn from this class can help you meet your requirements.

Eyelash Extension Certification AZ Requirements

If you’re asking yourself, “Do I need a license to do eyelash extensions in Arizona?”, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s get one fact squared away: you do need a license to do eyelash extensions in Arizona

According to the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology, you need either a cosmetologist or aesthetician license to do eyelash extensions.

Why? According to Arizona Revised Statutes, Title 32-501, aesthetics and cosmetology are defined as the following:

  • (a) Massaging, cleansing, stimulating, manipulating, exercising, beautifying, or applying oils, creams, antiseptics, clays, lotions, or other preparations, either by hand or by mechanical or electrical appliances.
  • (b) Arching eyebrows or tinting eyebrows and eyelashes.

With the right aesthetician and cosmetology training, you’ll have the necessary foundation to build upon in eyelash extension training.

License vs. Certification

But what’s the difference between a license and a lash extension certification in AZ? Well, there are actually a few!

A license:

  • Is a legal documentation granted by the state that lets clients know that you meet all the requirements set forth by Arizona
  • Clearly defines the educational requirements and tests you have undergone to learn proper lashing skills
  • Sets the standard of practice that all lash artists in AZ must meet
  • Ensures that you have enough practice hours to be proficient at your specialty

A certification:

  • An additional, voluntary course that is provided by private organizations
  • Does not reflect extensive education on the industry compared to a license
  • Can be completed in under a day depending on the chosen course

While we absolutely love certification courses, in the end, ladies, it’s never worth it to lash without a license. With repercussions like fines or worse, a misdemeanor, it’s better safe than sorry to get that license. Cluster Lashes: Why to Avoid Them & Lash Alternatives

Cluster Lashes: Why to Avoid Them & Lash Alternatives

Cluster Lashes: Why to Avoid Them & Lash Alternatives

April 8, 2022 by The Lash Professional.

When training to be a lash artist, you're going to learn a lot about eye anatomy, causes of irritation and infection, and best practices. You're also going to learn about the different types of eyelash extensions, and why some are better than others. This is undoubtedly when you'll be exposed to the cluster lashes vs. individual lashes debate.

Cluster lashes are fans of lashes that can be attached to eyelids to create a dramatic look. They were really popular several years ago, but have been surpassed by alternatives like individual eyelash extensions. Cluster lashes should be avoided if at all possible, and it's helpful to know why so you can explain it to your clients.

Why Should You Avoid Cluster Lashes?

First, you may be wondering, are cluster eyelashes safe? That's not really the issue. All on their own, clusters are "safe." The story changes once they are applied, though, because of what they can do to your eyelashes.

Cluster Lashes Are Too Heavy

One of the main reasons cluster lashes should be avoided is that there's a good chance they'll damage your natural lashes by pulling them out prematurely.

You see, cluster lash extensions are bunched –– clustered –– together, which makes them quite heavy. Unlike lash extensions, which are applied to natural lashes individually, clusters are applied to multiple lashes, and more adhesive than normal is needed. The fact that they're so heavy and attached to multiple lashes puts too much strain on your natural lashes.

They're Bad for Natural Lashes

When clusters fall out, they can end up taking many natural lashes with them. This makes it harder to get new lash extensions or to get fills to keep a look going strong. And, if cluster lashes are used too often, you also run the risk of suffering permanent eyelash loss.

As if all that weren't enough, cluster lashes increase the risk of infection. The amount of glue and clusters' weight can combine to create matted lashes. This might hinder normal shedding, preventing new eyelashes from growing out and leading to ingrown lashes, styes, and more. Ugh!

Cluster Lashes Don't Last Long

Another reason to stay away from cluster lash extensions is that they simply won't last very long. They're a very temporary solution. Though they're often worn for longer, clusters really shouldn't be worn for more than a day, and won't last longer than a week.

They Can Cause Infections

One last thing: All that stuff about cluster lash weight, glue, irritation, and infection? Sleeping with clusters on only exacerbates things. Those in the know understand that falling asleep with cluster lashes on is a big no-no!

Why Do People Choose Cluster Lashes?

Given how harmful they can be to natural lashes, why do people still opt for cluster lashes vs. individual lashes?

They're More "Convenient"

A big reason is that individual lash extension applications can take a lot of time. We've got places to go and people to see. Blocking out enough time for lash extensions seems difficult, if not impossible. So, those in search of a dramatically voluminous look see cluster lash extensions as a quick fix.

They're Inexpensive

Clusters are also tempting due to how cheap they are. But, you get what you pay for, and what you get isn't much, or for very long.

The Best Alternative To Cluster Lashes

Cluster lashes come with a lot of baggage, but there are no such issues with individual lashes! Regular lash extensions, like these from The Lash Professional, are applied with care and precision to individual lashes.

The best lash artists also take great care to reduce the chances of irritation and infection with eyelash extension tape and gel pads.

If it isn't lash shedding season, most individual lashes can last for several weeks with proper care, falling out with the natural lashes they're attached to. And, with regularly scheduled infills, a look gained with individual lash extensions can be maintained for months!

What To Choose: Cluster Lashes vs. Individual Lashes?

When it comes to cluster lashes vs. individual lashes, there is a clear winner: Individual lashes! Clusters fail the "value for money" test in every category. As a lash artist, guide your clients to make the right decision for the fullest, most luscious, and beautiful lashes possible. Just say no to cluster lashes!

Lash Shedding Season: What it is & How to Prep Your Clients

Lash Shedding Season: What it is & How to Prep Your Clients

Lash Shedding Season: What it is & How to Prep Your Clients

February 18, 2021 by The Lash Professional.

You've probably noticed that just as your other types of hair fall out, you're always losing lashes, too. Whether it's just a few or it's several lashes on any given day depends on many different factors (including how often you rub your eyes!), but on average, people lose between three and five lashes each day.

You may think that sounds bad, but did you know there are times of the year when you can actually kiss even more lashes goodbye, and that there's nothing you can do about it? Yep, every spring and fall, you lose more lashes than normal during the lash shedding seasons.

What is a Lash Shedding Season?

What exactly is a lash shedding season? During a seasonal lash shed, there's a noticeable uptick in the number of lashes that fall out. But why does it happen? Well, we're animals, right? And just as other animals shed unnecessary fur as the weather begins to warm up, humans shed lashes with the arrival of spring. This completely natural cycle then repeats itself later in the year, as summer makes way for cooler fall weather, and your eyes are ready once again for new lashes.

How Long Does Lash Shedding Season Last?

How long does lash shedding season last? A lash shed takes up a not-insignificant time of the year, around six weeks (or about one to two lash cycles). If you add both shedding seasons (spring and autumn) together, that actually means lash shedding occupies around 12 weeks of the year –– that's almost three months! This is a good chunk of the year in which you're losing more eyelashes than you do during other seasons.

How Lash Shedding Season Affects Your Clients

Since eyelash extensions are applied to natural lashes, your clients are bound to notice they're shedding even more eyelash extensions than they normally would any other time of year. People who are unaware of the reasons for this might freak out or even get angry and blame you when this happens. You may find that clients who recently had appointments return to your salon or studio soon afterward during a shed, complaining that their extensions are falling out. What should you do?

You can put your clients' minds at ease by explaining what lash shedding season is, and by emphasizing that excess shedding is completely natural at certain times of the year. Tell them that whenever seasonal lash sheds roll around, this means it's also lash extension shedding season –– there's no avoiding it!

What They Need To Know About Lash Shedding

What do you and your clients need to be aware of if they're getting eyelash extensions during lash shedding season?

Well, firstly, they may find that their eyelash extension appointments take longer to achieve their desired look since fewer natural eyelashes means more work for you, lash babe. In such circumstances, it's easy to see how it could be more difficult to help volume up someone's lashes, right? Secondly, once your clients have had eyelash extensions applied, they're going to have to do more to maintain their look during a shed.

You can advise your clients that one of the best ways of mitigating the effects of lash shedding season, and keeping their lashes looking full and beautiful all year round, is by scheduling more frequent fill appointments.

Normally, you might tell your clients to space out filling appointments to every three weeks, to account for natural shedding (we probably lose about 21 natural lashes a week most of the time, anyway). Seasonal lash extension shedding will take a greater toll on their look.

More Frequent Fills Can Help

It may sound self-serving to your clients, but you would do well to explain to them that they really will likely need more frequent fills to deal with lash extension shedding. This means coming in every other week. If they're truly committed to maintaining what you've achieved for them with eyelash extensions, your clients won't mind visiting you for fills every two weeks instead of every three.

As for those who need a bit more convincing, simply explain to them that it would be a real shame for all that time and money they've spent on eyelash extensions to go to waste!

Encourage Good Lash Extension Maintenance Habits

To avoid having to convince clients of the necessity for more frequent lash fills just during certain times of the year, you may want to help them another way. You can, from the get-go, instead get your clients into the routine of scheduling lash fills every two weeks.

The general reasoning for this fill frequency can be how it can take a lot of commitment to maintain a look with eyelash extensions. You can also mention how it's incredibly helpful for dealing with increased lash extension shedding during shedding season. Problem solved!

Brown Eyelash Extensions: Facts, Application Tips & More

February 18, 2021 by The Lash Professional.

As a lash artist, you know just how important it is to offer a wide array of natural brown eyelash extensions so you can grace the looks of any client that walks through your doors. However, finding the right brown eyelash extensions for your clients and mastering the perfect application is easier said than done! Luckily, we’ve compiled the essential facts you need to know about applying flawless dark brown lashes so you can perfect every style.

Why Choose Brown Eyelash Extensions?

Let’s start with the basics — why would a client want brown eyelash extensions vs. black extensions? Well, brown eyelash extensions are actually trending right now! These lashes have become more than a little popular with those in search of a more natural look. Let’s take a closer peek at who is likely to choose brown eyelash extensions over any other style, shall we?

Lighter skin tones. Incredibly reliable and capable of being paired with many different outfits, natural brown eyelash extensions are particularly popular with those who have lighter skin tones. These lashes don’t stand out quite as much against a more porcelain complexion, letting boss babes flaunt longer lashes without risking an unnatural look. Not to mention, those who have lighter skin tones may find that natural brown eyelash extensions are simply easier to pair with the rest of their makeup regime.

Blondes and redheads. This more natural style is highly attractive to redheads and blondes, too! That’s right — those with lighter hair colors often find that brown lash extensions accentuate their positive features and lead to dazzling looks that impress all around.

First-timers. And, of course, dark brown lashes are also perfect for newcomers who are trying out eyelash extensions for the first time! They’re easier to apply and maintain than more colorful and flashy lashes. They also don’t stand out quite as much as black lashes, making them ideal for those unsure if lash extensions are the best fit for their face.

Preparing for Application of Brown Lash Extensions

Ready to help others achieve a more natural look? These brown eyelash extensions come in a wide variety of lengths and shades for your consideration.

When appraising different brown eyelash extensions, consider that having many lash options of different lengths will help you appeal to a greater array of clients. The diameter of  your dark brown lashes may factor into their beauty needs, too. Curly brown eyelash extensions can be found to help those with naturally mischievous lashes that refuse to stay straight for easy application.

Taking preventative care measures to ensure the longevity of your brown eyelash extensions is an essential part of maintaining gorgeous looks. After selecting the natural brown eyelash extensions that meet your needs, remember the application tips highlighted below.

Applying Brown Eyelash Extensions

You need steady hands to apply your lashes with care. Luckily, practice makes perfect! As you accumulate brown lash extensions of different shades and lengths, you may need to learn unique approaches for proper application.

But how do you know when to apply different shades? Well, picking the same tone of standard brown lashes can achieve a beautiful natural look for your clients, especially for the more mature clientele.

A uniform tone isn’t required, though, and you can easily mix some brown tones into your black eyelash extensions to give them a subtle brown tinge. A hybrid brown made from different shades mixes the best of both worlds and may create a unique texture for your brown eyelash extensions.

Always, always remember to use clear lash glue when applying your brown eyelash extensions. Less is also definitely more when using glue to affix your brown lash extensions. You know as well as we do that it’s easy to overdo it if you’re not careful in your application, so lean on the light side.

Brown eyelash extensions are often favored because of their natural look, so ensure your mapping reflects this. Choosing a few different lengths and spreading them throughout the set will ensure that your brown eyelash extensions blend in perfectly.

And while those with deep-set eyes may need longer brown eyelash extensions for easier application, those who have hooded eyes may find shorter length lashes are easier to apply. Understanding what lengths to use on different eye types will help you avoid the annoying experience of the edges pinging upwards.

Aftercare for Your Brown Eyelash Extensions

We absolutely cannot forget about aftercare! Nothing makes your lashes last longer than taking proper care of them. And even the most basic aftercare for eyelash extensions will go a long way toward preserving your valuable beauty products that can be expensive to replace, too.

Making changes to your beauty routine, like avoiding oils at all costs, can help ensure your lashes aren’t drenched with liquids that strip them of their beauty and staying power. Carefully wash around your lashes to avoid saturating them in too much liquid — we promise your eyelash extensions don’t need as much hydration as you do, babe!

Are you using a blowdryer for your bangs? Make sure you don’t accidentally fry your brown eyelash extensions by mistake when attending to your other beauty needs. High heat on your eyes can also cause seeing problems and should be avoided for personal safety.

Keeping your extensions clean and gingerly brushing your dark brown lashes after you’ve applied them are the most important steps you can take to enhance your beauty. Brown eyelash extensions are generally easier to maintain than colorful ones, as they don’t always need to be kept as dry as more colorful lashes.

There you have it — brown eyelash extensions! Want to learn more about how to apply these stunning extensions? The Lash Professional has your back, girl. We offer both live and online courses that will teach you all you need to know about creating beautiful lash looks for every client. And don’t forget to stock up on supplies from our lash shop so you never run out of brown or black options!

Brown vs Black Eyelash Extensions: How to Choose

Brown vs Black Eyelash Extensions: How to Choose

Brown vs Black Eyelash Extensions: How to Choose

February 18, 2021 by The Lash Professional.

Eyelash extensions are a great way to enhance natural lashes for any reason someone wants, as often as they want. Perhaps you want to draw more attention to your gorgeous eyes or get a more glamorous look for the summer season. No matter the case, eyelash extensions are the way to go!

There’s just one problem that you may run into when choosing eyelash extensions — the color. A variety of retail stores carry the simple black color in bulk, but are eyelash extensions always black?

Many people think that eyelash extensions are available in only one color, but that's not the case, babe. While black lashes are more common, there are actually lashes available in a variety of colors. And, amongst all these, brown eyelash extensions have really grown in popularity for their natural appearance.

What Are Brown Eyelash Extensions?

So, what exactly are brown eyelash extensions? The main obvious difference between brown vs. black eyelash extensions is that brown eyelash extensions are extensions that are dyed brown. But, hang on, why would people get brown eyelash extensions instead of black?

Well, there are many reasons why someone might choose brown over black eyelash extensions. On a basic level, people get brown eyelash extensions for the same reasons they might get black or any other color of eyelash extensions: They want fuller, more luxurious lashes.

But, the reasons they choose brown eyelash extensions in particular over black lashes may be more varied. For instance, it could possibly be related to having a more natural look, achieving a more unique look, or might even just boil down to personal preference. Let's take a look at why some people might go with brown in the brown vs. black eyelash extensions debate.

Why Do People Get Brown Eyelash Extensions?

Black lashes will definitely make anyone's eyes pop, but they're still not necessarily right for everyone. Take, for instance, those with lighter hair colors or skin tones. Black lash extensions can, honestly, look a bit out of place on people with lighter hair or fairer skin. For such people, it doesn't really make sense to get black eyelash extensions which they will then color with mascara.

Seriously, if you're a blonde or a redhead, why bother with putting on mascara to change your eyelash color? Heck, why burden yourself with worrying about whether your mascara is oil-based or water-based? (Hint: you want the latter, not the former!) The easiest workaround would be to get brown eyelash extensions! There are different shades of brown eyelash extensions and you can find ones you really like.

And while brown eyelash extensions can give people with lighter skin tones or hair a more natural look than possible with black eyelash extensions, that isn't the only reason to get them.

Even those with darker hair may want to get brown eyelash extensions to have an understated lash look. Something that enhances their natural beauty without being too dramatic for their taste.

The bottom line is, brown eyelash extensions are popular for those who want eyelash extensions to look more natural for them. They're also great for people who want to change the color of their lashes without using makeup. They can also be used as an alternative to mascara, other makeup, orlash products that require regular upkeep and maintenance.

What About Black Eyelash Extensions?

A lot has been said about brown eyelash extensions up to now, but let's face it: black eyelash extensions offer a classic look, so people never need to feel pressured to get eyelash extensions of any other color. Without a doubt, black eyelash extensions are a great way to add volume and glamour to your eyes without resorting to other colors that might not be as complimentary.

Those with darker hair will generally go for black eyelash extensions, simply because they look more natural on them. However, there will be cases when darker shades of brown eyelash extensions will work if someone's brown hair is so dark brown that no one can tell the difference between it and black hair!

Black eyelash extensions may seem simple, but they give a dramatic look all on their own. Of course, if someone does want to add color to their eyelash extensions for an even greater dramatic effect, they can just use a water-based mascara on their black eyelash extensions whenever they want!

If you think about it, thanks to the availability and use of mascara, black eyelash extensions can be incredibly versatile, giving you one look one day and another look the next!

Brown vs. Black Eyelash Extensions, Which Will it Be?

When it comes to choosing between brown vs. black eyelash extensions, hair color, skin tone, and desired look all wrestle for consideration. For some, brown lashes are more natural and black lashes are more dramatic; for others, black lashes are more natural, and brown lashes are more dramatic.

Whichever way you or your clients go when it comes to brown vs. black eyelash extensions, The Lash Professional is the place to go to stock up on all your lash necessities for eyelash extensions, from lash packs to gel eye pads to training courses. How to Brush Eyelash Extensions: Simple and Easy Guide

How to Brush Eyelash Extensions: Simple and Easy Guide

Let's "face" it: The truth is that normal, natural eyelashes are just there, and they don't often receive much extra care. But should they? And what about those gorgeous eyelash extensions of yours?

The level of care you must show for your eyelashes rises the moment you have extensions applied. That’s right, babe — take the leap and invest in that eyelash brush! How you care for them is a matter of great importance, so it's time to learn how to brush eyelash extensions and keep 'em looking their best for as long as possible.

Why You Should Brush Your Eyelashes

Eyelash extensions make your lashes look fuller, and, "by extension" (pun intended!), make your eyes look bigger and more attractive. While extensions make you stand out in more ways than one, they stand out enough on their own to attract dust, pollen, and the makeup you use. Luckily, regular brushing of your eyelash extensions can keep them looking glamorous while saving you from the threat of eye irritation or (gasp!) even infection due to dirty lash extensions.

How Often to Brush Eyelash Extensions

Wondering how often to brush eyelash extensions? Every day. Now, is it tedious to do it every day? Honestly, yes...it can be! But is it worth the time you spend brushing your eyelash extensions every day? Absolutely!

Babe, you spent a lot of time and money getting your eyelash extensions applied! It's an investment you should want to get the most out of. If you don't brush your eyelash extensions every day, you’ll risk them looking dry and unnatural. That would totally defeat the point of getting eyelash extensions in the first place, wouldn't it?

Keeping your lashes looking healthy and clean will help them last longer, so any time you spend caring for them will be worth it. Brush your lashes every day, just as you brush your hair and teeth every day.

How to Properly Care for Lash Extensions

Before you start thinking that a quick brush is all your lashes need to care for them properly, think again — it's a bit more complicated. Your whole beauty regimen needs to account for your eyelash extensions, whether you're just starting your day or taking off your face at the end of it. You need to incorporate cleansers in addition to knowing how to brush eyelash extensions. Pro tip: You may even want to consider cutting down on the amount of makeup you put on!

Washing Your Eyelash Extensions

Washing your eyelash extensions is so important! Just make sure you use a mild cleanser. Oh, and definitely make sure that it's an oil-free cleanser. Oil-based cleansers may cause your eyelash extensions to clump up together or even lose their adhesion. In addition, oil-based cleansers can clog up your pores, with the effects being a bit of a, uh, pain in the eyes. So, whenever you wash your eyelash extensions (every day!), useoil-free cleansers to do so, and wash them gently.

Brushing Your Eyelash Extensions

Knowing how to brush your eyelash extensions can help you maintain them between face and eyelash washings. You need to brush eyelash extensions from root to tip to get the full benefit of brushing, and, like with washing, you need to do it every day. Brushing your eyelash extensions will get rid of any debris that's been hanging out in your lashes and will fan them out while also bringing straggling lashes back in line with the rest.

By the way, you absolutely need to have proper eyelash extension brushes in your makeup kit. And under no circumstances, at any time, should you brush your lashes with anything other than a lash brush — seriously.

If you're wondering how to brush eyelash extensions after a shower, the most important thing to remember is that you do it with a lash brush after you shower — never in the shower! Don't soak those beauties or they can come loose!

One More Thing: Refill Your Extensions!

Eyelash extensions will naturally fall out over time. You can't prevent this from happening; it's just the way of the world. However, you can prevent your eyelash extensions from losing their fullness by regularly scheduling eyelash extension refills with your favorite lash tech, preferably every two weeks or so. Refills can help you maintain the beauty of your eyelash extensions, ensuring that they all get equal amounts of love and care as you brush them.
