How To Get Eyelash Extension Clients

How To Get Eyelash Extension Clients

How To Get Eyelash Extension Clients

February 18, 2021 by The Lash Professional.

Are you new to the lash industry and trying to build your lash clientele? Building your clientele can be overwhelming but remember, everyone has to start somewhere. Every lash artist has been in your exact shoes.

It will take some time, like everything else in life, but if you’re persistent, you can reach your lash goals and reach them fairly quickly. If you’re ready to build your lash clientele, follow these five easy tips to get you there. Learn how to get eyelash extension clients in a few simple ways with The Lash Professional.

1. Get Social
In today’s world, social media is a huge part of getting your brand out there. Facebook and Instagram easily allow you to share photos of your work and lash space. What’s even more awesome is that future clients can find you by searching relevant hashtags, from a repost or just looking through photos.

When posting on social media, be professional, but don’t forget to be personable too. Lucky for you, we have a guide to Instagram tips and tricks to help you out! Your potential clients want to see who you are, not just your lash work. Do they want to spend two hours with you? Do they want to be in your presence every two weeks?

I personally love my lash artist because not only does she do amazing lashes, I also love spending time with her. So, show that amazing personality that makes you, you! Share lash-related posts, quotes, lash looks you’ve created, and personal achievements such as getting certified as a professional lash technician. You can use social media to grow your lash business by sharing what you do best –– lash extensions!

Social media has given lash artist’s a great way to reach potential clientele and create strong relationships with current clientele! Don’t skip this free marketing tool! Have some fun and get creative with your posts. It can be an excellent way for how to get eyelash extension clients quickly.

2. Ask for Reviews

Ask clients for reviews! Reviews can help build your lash clientele quickly. Future clients searching for a lash artist will almost always look for online reviews, especially if they don’t have any personal recommendations. Think about it. Would you buy a mascara on Amazon that had zero reviews or one with 50 glowing reviews? It’s a pretty simple choice, right?

Google and Yelp can either bring you more clients or turn potential clients away. It’s important to shine on these review platforms to build your lash clientele, so spend some time adding photos of your work and your lash space, respond publicly to reviews, and don’t be afraid to ask current clients for reviews!

Asking clients to leave reviews is one of the easiest ways to increase eyelash extension clientele. Don’t be shy. You know you’re doing great work when clients walk out looking fabulous. They surely won’t mind sparing a couple of minutes to write a quick review.

3. Offer Client Incentive

Create an incentive or referral program. Word of mouth marketing is everything and more! Oh, and it’s free. Who doesn’t like free! Most people will find their lash artist from a recommendation from a friend or family member.

“Oh my gosh, I love your lashes. Who did them?” This question is a powerful way to gain more lash clients. Some of your clients may already recommend you to their friends and family, but a referral program will up the ante!

I recommend offering your clients a discount or even a free service or product for every referral they send you. Do the best eyelash extensions that make people stop and talk about your brand, lash babe! And then, give your clients an incentive to sell you too!

4. Seek Support from Friends and Family

Ask your friends and family to help get your name out there! When thinking of how to build your lash clientele, don’t overlook the people closest to you! Family and friends are great resources for getting more eyelash extension clients.

They can help build your lash clientele by posting your work on their social media, talking about you to their friends and coworkers, and can even pass out your business cards. I promise, these people want you to succeed (so you can buy the bottle of wine at happy hour) and will help you get there, you just have to ask!

So don’t be nervous. Seek support from those you trust because I’m sure they are dying to help you grow your lash business. They might know just the person who is looking to try lash extensions and send them your way.

5. Be Prepared to Build your Lash Clientele

Be prepared with business cards and pricing. If someone compliments your lashes, give them your business card. If you overhear someone talking about lashes, give them your business card and prices. Or if you see someone with lashes, yep, you guessed it, compliment them and give them your info!

It won’t be enough to use a generic, bland design — that won’t catch their eye. Make sure your cards and price sheet stand out — give them some flair and use a cute design! Even better, you can even put a special discount for first-time clients on your business card or price sheet. If you don’t have a sheet, check out our downloadable price sheet template.

Where to Buy Eyelash Extension Supplies - The Lash Professional

Where to Buy Eyelash Extension Supplies

October 8, 2018 by The Lash Professional.

So you’re finally a lash artist (yay!), but now you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the online eyelash extension supplies. Where do you even begin? How do you know what company to buy your eyelash extension kit from? Should you buy eyelash extension supplies from Amazon or the latest greatest lash brand you saw on Instagram? Or what about that Chinese brand that keeps sliding into your direct messenger?

Having lash product options is a good thing, but too many options can be very overwhelming. That’s where The Lash Professional team comes in! We’re here to walk you through your options and let you know exactly where to buy eyelash extensions supplies.

Oversea Vendors Eyelash Extension Supplies

Have you been directly messaged on Facebook or Instagram by an overseas vendor offering you extremely low prices for every lash product you could dream of? Let me be honest with you — I definitely have. The Lash Professional trainers and our lash artist community all have at some point, so I’m guessing you have too!

Low prices for eyelash extension supplies are something we all want, so it seems like a no-brainer. I mean, who wants to pay more for something? Unfortunately, the truth of the matter is that those “cheap” lashes are probably too good to be true.

The worst-case scenario is that the credit card you used for your overseas lash product purchase will have fraud charges almost immediately after your purchase. And yes, you can get those charges reversed, but who wants to go through that struggle? Not me!

Okay, the second not-so-good scenario is that you don’t receive the lash products you ordered. The overseas lash company takes your money but doesn’t send you the product. Again reversible but overly annoying and time-consuming.

Third bad scenario: the lash products you receive are the worst quality you’ve experienced. They’re so bad you’d have to be willing to ruin your reputation to use them. Don’t even think about it!

Is it possible to have a good scenario when you buy eyelash extension supplies from an overseas vendor?

Sure, it’s a possibility. If you want to purchase your eyelash extension products overseas, we at The Lash Professional strongly suggest you spend lots and lots of time researching lash companies and their products individually. It can be a time-consuming task, but the alternative is much worse! We also strongly suggest ordering samples before investing your money into any products.

Lastly and most importantly, keep in mind that most overseas companies will only sell in bulk, so production and shipping can take up to 90 days. If you need your products sooner than that, you may want to consider an eyelash extension supply alternative.

Amazon Eyelash Extension Supplies

You can buy just about everything on Amazon now! I personally use Amazon as my go-to shopping center for all professional eyelash extension tools. It makes my life so much easier, and who doesn’t want an easier life? The great thing about purchasing your lash extension supplies off of Amazon is most products will ship crazy fast and for free! Some even have exclusive offers for Prime members. What a dream!

Unfortunately, there is one big problem you might run into when you buy eyelash extension supplies from Amazon — knock-offs. Even in the lash world, we have knock-offs. Oversea vendors copy lash brands’ packaging and sell the knock-off eyelash extension supplies on Amazon. Amazon does its best with this issue, but it’s definitely something to watch for.

To avoid this situation when shopping on Amazon, check reviews for the lash extension supplies you’re interested in buying. If people have had a bad experience with a company and their product, you'll definitely hear about it in the review section! Check for reviews with high customer satisfaction to find quality lash supplies.

Pay close attention to the lash extension supplies' description as well. Most overseas vendors won’t write out a full description of the product. However, if they do, the description may be lacking in detail, grammar, or punctuation. Save your money and time by doing a little research before completing the purchase.

Lash Brand Websites Eyelash Extension Supplies

Purchasing your lash supplies from an actual lash brand website is the safest way to receive professional eyelash extension products. You don't have to worry about credit card fraud, the speed of shipping, or the quality of the products.

Don't know the lash brand well? Research is a lash pro's best friend! If you really want to try out an eyelash extension brand you're unfamiliar with, check out their Instagram, online reviews, and website. You can find out a lot about a company by reading their blogs, product descriptions, and efforts to make sure all the lash product details are dialed in. If they're not paying attention to their social media or website details, they most likely aren't paying attention to the details of their products.

Eyelash extension supplies are totally okay to buy online. Come on — everything is online, right?! You just need to make sure you are buying your lash products from the right place and brand. The right lash vendor or lash company is an expert in the industry. They have a positive reputation that they will do anything to uphold.

Still unsure? Try a product or two before buying all the lash extension supplies you use. It's better to be safe than sorry!

And, while exclusive offers are alluring, you get what you pay for, especially with lash products!

Choosing a Lash Booking System - The Lash Professional The Lash Professional

Choosing a Lash Booking System - The Lash Professional

    Choosing a Lash Booking System

November 6, 2018 by The Lash Professional.

Hey Lash Sisters! Are you a salon owner, traveling lash artist, or working out of your home?! Keeping track of appointments gets tricky, so let’s talk lash booking systems! There are a few key features to look for before making a decision. Price, capabilities, and ease are three features you’ll want to focus on. Let’s dive into each one separately and talk about why each is important.

    Price

Pricing is obviously something we all look at. We want something efficient that will also not break the bank. In my research, most booking systems for individual lash artists range from $20-$40 per month (adding more than one employee adds to the cost). Booking systems generally will have tier options for pricing. Different price packages will include different capabilities, so be sure to consider each option and what it can do for you!

    Capabilities

Capabilities are important! Can your client book online? Is there a built-in no-show policy? Can you issue a refund directly from the app, if need be? These are all questions you should ask yourself while shopping around for lash booking system. You’ll also want to be sure it not only meets your “capability,” but the needs of users, as well. That is IF it allows clients to book online. Which leads me into ease…

    Ease

Clients want simplicity in the booking process. User friendly-ness will get you huge brownie points as an artist! If a system is too difficult, clients will navigate away from it (or they may just text or call you, which is inconvenient for YOU!). That actually goes for your website too… everything should be simple and clear and easy to navigate!

    PERSONAL TOP 3

    Vagaro

First, we’ll talk all about Vagaro! Vagaro’s pricing is based on how many employees there are. This is great for a smaller salon or for an artist who’s on their own. The more employees, the more expensive it is. Another pro is the capabilities and ease of Vagaro; there are multiple ways a client can book online! The pros of Vagaro honestly go on and on, however, there is a con. The only con I could find is that the card reader is not included, it cost $75. For a larger salon this would be fine, but for an individual lash artist, every expense matters. That aside, this lash booking system would be perfect for me! (though I wouldn’t recommend it for a large salon).

    MindyBody Inc

MindBody is a much more expensive system, in my research. While its pros include features like advanced scheduling options, 2-way SMS notification texts, and custom mobile app, its con is how expensive it is. I wouldn’t recommend this system for an individual or smaller salon, but for a large salon, it would be great!

    Styleseat

Styleseat is the last lash booking system we will talk about! It is one of the cheapest options- best of pricing options. Your clients can book online by following your personal link, or they can search for you on the website or app. The app is great for your clients to book wherever they are- there is the capabilities and ease!

Styleseat also has a built-in late/cancellation/no show policy that requires clients to put a credit card on file to schedule, which helps to protect you as artists and your time. The only con to Styleseat is that clients can’t book through a third-party site like Yelp or Facebook.

Now that I’ve covered options and information on what to look for, this is where you take things into your own hands. Consider what you need and know that you are ultimately investing in the success of your business. Whether you are just starting or experienced, you’ll want to find the lash booking system that is going to benefit your future! Whether you choose Vagaro, Mindbody, or Style seat, or whether you have some other options up your sleeve like Square or Salon Iris, consider all options and be sure of your decision.

    Happy Lashing Sisters!

Eyelash Extension Business Cards: Get Into the Lash Brand Game!

How to Design Fabulous Eyelash Extension Business Cards

September 23, 2019 by The Lash Professional.

It's time to get creative, ladies! Yes, that means getting even more creative than when you're lashing fresh new looks.

Today, we’re talking about all things marketing and branding. If you’ve done your due diligence, then you already a catchy lash business name to attract clients. Additionally, you’ll need flashy business cards to get the word out to the lash community: there’s a new lash boss in town!

To help you get started, we’ve compiled a few of our favorite concepts to consider when designing eyelash extension business cards. Check it out.

How to Design Eyelash Extension Business Cards

Send a Message With Your Business Cards

Connect with your clients with just a business card! Share a compelling story or any useful information about you and your business.

      Tell a Story

Creating a narrative for clients to empathize with is a quick and easy way to gain clientele. Nonetheless, there is a right and wrong way to accomplish info-laden eyelash extension business cards.

First, don't try to fit your entire life story onto a business card. Too much information can be chaotic and overwhelming!

Create a narrative using a creative tagline or motto to connect with your clients. For example, ‘Love the Lash Life.’ The catchy slogan is an easy way to explain to the client what you are trying to achieve. In addition, the sneaky alliteration is memorable.

        Create a Mini Menu

Each lash entrepreneur and business seeks different ways to distinguish themselves from the crowd. A rising trend that can highlight your services is a mini-menu business card!

A mini-menu is a brief rundown of products and services that you may offer. With a sleek and glamorous design, and services presented upfront, clients can determine if they are interested in your business.

In addition, unlike plain Jane business cards, a mini menu card is a useful piece of information that clients are more likely to hang onto!

Design Your Business Cards to Perfection

When it comes to creating eyelash extension business cards that dazzle. Incorporating stimulating visuals and artistic elements is the way to go!

For many lash babes, their logo will be the centerpiece of their business cards.

Logos are a natural element to incorporate and match the overall branding of the business. In addition, the consistency across all of your business materials will help the customer recognize your business.

If you're not sure where to start when making your design, don't be afraid to look at other shops!

Sneaking a peek at other businesses’ marketing and branding is not cheating! Draw inspiration from different elements, designs, and concepts around you to innovate bigger and better ideas.

Nonetheless, for any lash babes that can't seem to find any good inspiration, never fear! We have an example to set you well on your way.

Design Inspiration: The Lash & Sugar Company

Feast your eyes on this design inspo, lash babes!

The Lash & Sugar Company is a lash, sugar wax, and tanning boutique in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Even more, this fresh and youthful company is a salon partner of The Lash Professional!

Are you interested in becoming a salon partner of The Lash Professional? Learn more about the perks and benefits of joining The Lash Professional family!

The Lash and Sugar Company combines an interesting mix of metallics and flirty images to create a distinct brand.

Pull inspiration from the company’s juxtaposing edgy and soft aesthetic to create your eyelash business cards.

Keep in mind that your brand is your creative brand. It encompasses your personality, aesthetic, and business. Take great care to create crisp business cards—or cute lash swag—that represent you and your brand.

        Sell Your Brand in Style

Ladies, in the end, you're not just making a design for your eyelash extension business cards. You're building a brand that represents you, from personality to experience and beyond. Your brand is meant to capture that overall experience only you can provide along with those beautiful lash looks.

For this reason, your brand stands out from the crowd because no one else can be you, after all! There is no need to be humble here, lash babes. You know how good you are, so don’t be afraid to show off how much of a lash boss you are.

How Much to Charge for Eyelash Extensions - The Lash Professional The Lash Professional

How Much to Charge for Eyelash Extensions - The Lash Professional

How Much to Charge for Eyelash Extensions

October 7, 2019 by The Lash Professional.

First things first lash babes, let's talk about the value of the art of lashing. Hint: It's priceless.

You're changing the lives of women around the world by helping them feel beautiful, inside and out. You can't put a price on that!

But, you can and should put a price on the services you provide.

Now then, let's talk about the cost of those services. Before you look at lash extension costs and the prices of your services, look at the value of your service.

You have invested time, energy, and money into your lashing art. Base how much to charge for eyelash extensions on the resources you've invested.

To explain, things like your time and energy are resources you will never get back (and that's not a bad thing!). However, if you determine how much to charge for eyelash extensions the right way, your spent money will come back to you (tenfold!).

In the end, never forget the value of what you give or the importance of what you get back. In lashing, you give and get gratification, sisterhood, joy, and so much more!

How Much to Charge for Eyelash Extensions: Factors to Consider

        Experience

First, take a look at your education and experience. Are you licensed for eyelash extensions? Are you certified? Do you have specialty certifications for volume or mega volume eyelash extensions

Asking yourself all these questions may feel silly at first, but trust me, it has an impact.

So, if you've gotten your license and certification, then show it off! Clients who are confident in your skills and experience are more willing to pay a pretty penny for killer lashes!

If you don't have a license or certifications, think about getting them! Having proof that shows how well you know your stuff may be the thing that boosts your business numbers. Plus, a little more education has never hurt anyone!

Consider your lashing education and experience to determine appropriate prices. Also, keep in mind that you'll need to adjust your prices as you gain more experience and knowledge.

All in all, know your worth and charge accordingly! Don’t sell yourself short, but also don’t oversell your level of experience and knowledge.

Are you interested in improving your net worth? Gain industry knowledge from The Lash Professional. The Lash Professional offers some of the most remarkable and affordable lash education programs.

        Demographics

The next thing you will want to assess is the demographics in your area. In other words: where are you lashing?

The area that you're lashing in will tell you about the demographic you're serving! How does that work, though?

Well, take a look at the map featured above. The darker states on this map have a higher cost of living. Where the cost of living increases, the price of everything increases.

This map is just a general idea of what states have a high cost of living and vice versa.  Thus, you should pay close attention to the cost of living in the state you live in!

You will also want to take this research a step further and look at specific details of the area you're in. You need to know if you're lashing in a highly-populated area with lots of lash salons. Why? With plenty of competition, that means to price your services competitively.

However, if you are lashing in a smaller area with no lash salons, your prices change. In fact, you may be able to charge more for services depending on local demand.

All in all, you want to check out other salons in your area if there are any. Then, price lash extensions on your menu accordingly.

        Pricing

While there are no magic numbers to base your lash prices on, I can give you some examples to check out.

Let's look at what salons charge near our headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona.

First off, The Lash Professional has a partnered salon, The Lash and Sugar Company. This salon is located right in the heart of Scottsdale!

While reading this, keep the following in mind. Arizona is in the realm of "Moderate Salon Prices." Scottsdale, in particular, is an area with quite a few salons and high demand for lashes

Now, let's take a look at The Lash and Sugar Company prices. For starters, full sets range from $100-$175 (depending on fullness and style). Removals are $35, and fills range from $30-$75 (depending on the required time).

Now that you have an idea of some prices in the Scottsdale area let's look a little further out. Flagstaff, in northern Arizona, is a much smaller town with fewer salons—and even fewer that offer eyelash extensions—but the demand for lashes is still high!

An artist in Flagstaff could charge $150-$225 for a full set of lashes. But, that artist would want to do a trial run and see how these prices work to make sure this pricing is right for that area.

        Price Your Way to Success

Knowing how much to charge for eyelash extensions can be tricky. But, if you consider what we've talked about today, pricing will be smooth sailing! There is no set in stone numbers for prices because of how much prices can (and should) fluctuate.

Just like any other industry, when the lashing industry changes, so will your prices. There's no problem with going with the flow when it comes to pricing! Remember to charge appropriately, lash babes.

Most of all, always remember the value of what we do in lashing. That's something that will never change. Never undervalue your art and never underestimate the payoff!

Retail Products for your Lash Salon

October 10, 2019 by The Lash Professional.

Look at you, lash boss!  If you're reading this, you probably have your own salon, or you're thinking of opening one. Makin' money moves!  You likely have an image in your head of exactly what you want your salon to look like, right down to the retail products on the shelves.  What brand do you see?  Do you see products you have in your own home?  We're going to talk today about how to choose lash retail products for your salon.

          Lash Retail Products

Retail Products You Know & Love

My biggest piece of advice for you is to only sell products that you have personally tested and would use.  Clients can smell sales-y bullsh*t and the last thing you want is for someone to call you out or ask you a question you can't answer.  Research and test products before you ask someone else to pay for them.  Speaking of research, make sure you look at ingredients.  Consider having options for clients with allergies or sensitivities.  Act like the expert your clients expect and need you to be!

          Branding of Retail Products

Is your salon a sparkly, flirty oasis?  Maybe it's bad a*s and edgy.  Should the retail products you choose match your own branding?  Not necessarily, but it's definitely something to think about.   The most important thing is advertising quality products that will benefit your clients, so I think this one is more of a bonus.  Who doesn't love consistency?

          Cost of Retail Products

In most circumstances, you get what you pay for.  I believe this is true in the majority of the beauty industry.  That being said, you don't want to break your clients' banks.  Consider the prices of the products you're choosing to sell to your clients, with your clients in mind.  If you run a super high-end salon, you can afford to sell more expensive products, and your clients can more likely afford to purchase from you.

Pro Tip: Education, education, education!  If your clients are concerned or put off by the price of a product or service, explain to them why something costs what it costs and how it will ultimately benefit them.  However, don't pressure them to buy anything that they don't want.  :)

          Demand for Retail Products

Listen to your clients' needs!  You are with these babes for hours in the day.  Talk to them and see what kind of products they would be happy to purchase from you, or what they lack in their current routines that you could provide.  Are they having lash growth problems?  Look into buying a lash serum.  Do they want something guaranteed lash-safe to wash with?  Stock up your salon with a lash cleanser.

          Swag Retail Products

This is another bonus, but people love to rep brands that they use or enjoy.  Make your brand one of those. Have a cute a*s logo?  Put it on a shirt or a PopSocket.  Maybe have some stickers made for your brand that you give to clients for free at the end of each service!  This ensures they go home with something cute (other than their bomb lashes), and it'll get you some additional exposure.

That's all I have for you today, babes!

How Much Money Can You Make Doing Eyelash Extensions?

How Much Money Can You Make Doing Eyelash Extensions?

September 4, 2020 by The Lash Professional.

The number one question asked by our students is, “how much money can you make doing eyelash extensions?” My immediate response when I hear this is “ A LOT!” because, seriously, eyelash extension profits can be mind-blowing.

The eyelash extension industry is headed for impressive growth. And it doesn’t show signs of slowing down. Clearly, the market for lashes extensions is present. Are you ready to meet that demand?

great lash course will teach you the skills you need to become a top tier lash technician. But what about becoming a money-making lasher with a booming business? The Lash Professional is here to share how to do just that. Let’s get this coin.

3 Factors to Calculate Eyelash Extension Profits

Running a profitable eyelash extension business is not all sassy lash puns and cute transformation shots for Instagram. It takes careful planning and knowledge of three key principles.

In business, it is hard to pinpoint exactly what the numbers will be since there are so many variables. But there are general guidelines for determining prospective profit.

Here is our ultimate equation to determine how much money you can make doing eyelash extensions.

          1. The Price of Lash Extension Services

To kick things off, let’s look at an obvious factor influencing profit—the price of lash extension services. A typical lash technician salary will vary based on the price she charges for each full set and fills. The amount you can charge depends on skill level, location and how well known your studio is (is there a waitlist to get an appointment? Raise prices!).

Say you charge $130 for a full set of classic lashes and $65 for a classic fill (these are prices that fall within the average range). You can then calculate your earnings as a lash technician charging these prices.

            4 full sets (2 hours each) x $130 = $520 after an 8 hour day

            6 fills (1 hour each) x $65 = $390 after a six hour day

In reality, you will be doing a mix of full sets and fills each day. Let’s take the average of those two days to say that you make $455 on an average day.

            $455 x 5 days a week= $2,275

            $2,275 x 50 weeks (2 weeks off for vacation) = $113, 750

That means that you have the potential to make over $100k before taxes in one year of lashing. Even after you account for the cost of supplies and certifications, this is an impressive eyelash extension salary.

Of course, there are variables, but this type of calculation can help you answer the question, “how much do lash techs make?”

Beginner Lash Artist Tip: If you want to make a lot of money, you need to charge a lot of money, right?! WRONG. When you are first starting, don’t charge! You should first practice your new skill on family and friends. They can offer honest feedback and help you grow to the artist you want to become.

Once your skills are perfected and your lash speed increases, charge what you are worth. In this industry, it is normal for your prices to increase as your skills increase.

As a business-savvy lash technician, you will want to set your prices by considering the products and application time and what you have invested in learning and perfecting your technique. If you need help figuring out the process, read this article on how much to charge for eyelash extensions.

            2. Location

Many people ask, “how much do lash techs make?” think there is one blanket answer. The truth is, many factors affect a lash technician’s salary. One factor is location, which goes hand-in-hand with what you are charging.

Where you are located has a lot to do with what clients will pay for eyelash extensions and your overall eyelash extension profits. For instance, lash technicians in Malibu serve a clientele willing to pay more (and tip more) for lash extensions.

Another important consideration to make is the density of eyelash extension salons in your area. If there are a limited number of places offering eyelash extension services, the higher the price of services. A good way to gauge this is by researching what other artists in your area are charging. Doing so will help you find the best price for the services you are providing.

By doing competitor research, you can learn about the prices of other studios in your location and their strengths and weaknesses. For instance, diving into online reviews can show you what customers like and dislike about studios near you. Then, you can tailor your services to address these customer pain points. Standing out in your location makes you more in demand.

            3. Marketing

Just about anyone will tell you that marketing is probably the most powerful way to build a strong brand. If you want to be successful, you have to get the word out!

Kristie Lorette writes on the importance of marketing for small businesses:

“For a business to succeed, the product or service it provides must be known to potential buyers. Without marketing, your potential customers may never be aware of your business offerings, and your business may not be given the opportunity to progress and succeed.”

Short version—your business can’t grow and thrive if people don’t know you exist.

You can read the full article here. Because lash extensions are a beautiful visual addition to a face, social media (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) offers a great channel to promote your services. But marketing should not stop there.

There are plenty of ways to attract new clients to your lash studio.

Digital marketing goes beyond posting a few hashtags. Make sure that you have a strong online presence that people can find on Google. Search engine optimization (SEO) is an important area to learn more about if you want new customers to find you online. By making specific changes to your website, you can open the door for tons of new potential customers to come across your work through search engines.

Word of mouth advertising occurs when your clients spread the word about your lash services to others. To encourage this, you can offer referral discounts to clients that connect you to new customers. If Rachel refers Jen to your studio, Rachel gets a 15% discount on her next set of lashes.

How Much Money Can You Make Doing Eyelash Extensions?

So how much money can you make doing eyelash extensions? Reports indicate that the average lash technician salary is $47,396 per year. On average, lash technicians’ hourly wages range from $20 - $25. These reports often take into account part-time lash technician salaries. As a full-time lash technician, you have the potential to make lots more.

These averages offer a starting point for an eyelash extension salary. But who says you have to be an average lash technician?

While this is the average, there are lash technicians across the country making more than this amount. As your skills grow, you can charge more and become more profitable as a lash professional. Successful lashers on the higher end of the wage scale make upwards of $73,000 each year.

These three components—price, location and marketing—should all be factored into your eyelash extension business. When you combine these elements to determine what you will be charging and how often you will be working, you can calculate how successful you can be! And girl, numbers don’t lie.

For example (assuming the cost of the product is $4 or less for each service, which is average), say I charge $150 for full sets, and average $55 fills. If I take approx. 20-25 clients a week, I have an opportunity to make upwards of $100k a year!

Build a Solid Foundation for Your Lash Business

If this is the first step in your research, keep going! Pick up a book—or 4—and educate yourself on successful business practices because this equation is just the beginning!

What I am getting at is, it is OK to be afraid, but don’t let it stop you from starting something amazing. A comfort zone can be a beautiful place, but it is not a place for growth.
