If you're here, you're probably curious about what products are necessary for a lash lift and what the products do. As always, I'm here to help you out! There are a few different steps in a lash lift, but for the most part, lash lift supplies are pretty simple.
Lash Lift Supplies
Think of lash lift rods and shields as hair curlers for your eyelashes. They are what the lashes mold to in order to curl. So, as you can imagine, not every single person can use the same size rod or shield, which is why there are different curls and sizes! You can vary the usage of these depending not only on the length of your client's lashes and the type of curl they want.
Your client's lashes need to stick to the rod or shield somehow, and this is where lash lift glue comes in. It's pretty straightforward. You apply the special lash lift glue to the lash lift rod, and use curved tweezers or another eye-safe tool to adhere your client's lashes to the rod. This may seem self-explanatory, but it's important that you only ever use a lash lift-specific glue for this, because it's safe on lashes and skin.
The lift solution is the first product applied to the lashes and is essential for reshaping them. This solution breaks down the bonds in the lashes' keratin structure, allowing them to be molded into a new shape. By applying the lift solution and using a silicone rod or shield, the lashes are curled and lifted upwards from the root, creating the appearance of longer, fuller lashes.
The set solution (sometimes called the neutralizer or fixing solution) in a lash lift is the second key step after the lift solution. Its role is to re-harden the disulfide bonds in the lashes, effectively "setting" them into the new, lifted shape. Once the lift solution has softened the keratin bonds to make the lashes moldable, the set solution re-bonds these structures to hold the lashes in an upward, curled position. This solution "locks in" the shape, ensuring the lifted effect lasts for several weeks.
The nourish solution (often called a conditioning or moisturizing solution) is the final step in a lash lift. After the lift and set solutions have restructured the lashes, they can be left slightly dehydrated. The nourish solution restores moisture, adds shine, and strengthens the lashes by replenishing lost nutrients. It helps soothe the lashes and reduces any brittleness or dryness caused by the chemical process. This step is essential for lash health, ensuring the lashes remain soft, flexible, and healthy-looking post-lift.
All of these solutions can be applied with microbrushes. Microbrushes are just really tiny brushes that help product get between lashes. Along with microbrushes, another product that you should use during any kind of lash service are eyepads. Eyepads protect the lower lashes and the skin underneath a client's eyes during a service.
Now that you know the basics of lash lift supplies, maybe you want to further your bad-a*sery and take a lash lift training course. Lash lifts are a great, more natural alternative for a lot of people, so it's always beneficial to be able to offer clients a range of services.
