Should I Add Professional Eyelash Extension Services?
Should I Add Professional Eyelash Extension Services?
April 27, 2017 by The Lash Professional.
Hey, lash babes! If you’re in the beauty biz—whether you’re a hairstylist, esthetician, or even running your own nail salon—you’ve probably wondered at some point, Should I add professional eyelash extension services?
As a lash artist who’s built a career around gorgeous lashes (and who reps The Lash Professional, of course), I can tell you that adding lash extensions to your service menu is a total game-changer. Let’s break down why lash extensions are worth it, what you’ll need to get started, and how it could transform your business.
Why Adding Lash Extensions Is a Smart Move
First things first: lash extensions are huge. They’re not just a trend—they’ve become a staple in beauty routines, like getting a haircut or a mani-pedi. Here’s why offering lash extensions is such a good idea:
1. Increased Revenue
Let’s talk numbers. Lash extensions can bring in serious cash. A single full set can cost anywhere from $100–$300, and regular fills (every 2–3 weeks) add a steady stream of income. Plus, lash services typically have a high profit margin once you’ve invested in training and supplies.
2. Attract New Clients
Adding lash extensions to your menu is a surefire way to bring in new clients who might not have otherwise visited your salon. Once they’re hooked on lashes, they might book other services, too!
3. Stay Competitive
Let’s face it—beauty clients love one-stop shops. By offering lash extensions, you can stand out from competitors who only focus on a few services.
4. Creative Satisfaction
Applying lash extensions is like creating tiny works of art! It’s such a satisfying process to see how a custom lash set can completely transform someone’s look.
What to Consider Before Adding Lash Extensions
Before diving in, here are a few things to think about:
1. Training and Certification
Providing professional lash extensions requires proper training. Not only does this ensure you’re offering safe and high-quality services, but it’s also often required by state regulations.
The Lash Professional offers accredited lash courses, both online and in-person, to help you master the art of lash extensions. Trust me, it’s worth the investment!
2. Upfront Costs
Adding lash extensions to your services requires some initial spending. You’ll need to invest in training, supplies, and tools like lash trays, adhesives, and tweezers. Using high-quality products, like those from The Lash Professional, ensures better results and happier clients.
3. Time Commitment
Learning lash extensions takes time and practice. Be prepared to dedicate time to training and perfecting your technique.
4. Workspace
You’ll need a comfortable setup for lash appointments, including a lash bed, lighting, and storage for your supplies.
How to Get Started
If you’re ready to add professional eyelash extension services to your business, here’s a step-by-step guide:
1. Research Training Programs
Look for accredited lash courses that cover everything from lash anatomy to application techniques. The Lash Professional offers comprehensive training programs designed for beginners and pros alike.
2. Invest in Quality Supplies
Stock up on premium lash products to ensure your clients get the best results. The Lash Professional’s lash trays, adhesives, and tools are my go-to for creating stunning lash sets.
3. Practice, Practice, Practice
Like any skill, lash extensions take practice. Start by working on mannequins or friends before offering services to paying clients.
4. Set Your Prices
Do some market research to see what other lash artists in your area are charging. Remember to factor in your experience, the quality of your products, and your location when setting your prices.
5. Promote Your New Service
Use social media to announce that you’re adding lash extensions to your menu. Post before-and-after photos, share testimonials, and run special promotions to attract new clients.
FAQs About Adding Lash Extensions
1. Do I Need a License to Offer Lash Extensions?
This depends on your state. Some require an esthetician or cosmetology license, while others offer lash-specific licensing. Check your local regulations before starting.
2. How Long Does Lash Training Take?
Most training programs can be completed in a few days, but mastering the skill takes practice.
3. Is It Expensive to Start?
There are upfront costs for training and supplies, but the return on investment is worth it. Many lash artists recoup their costs after just a few clients.
Final Thoughts on Should I Add Professional Eyelash Extension Services?
So, should you add professional eyelash extension services? Absolutely! Whether you’re looking to grow your income, attract new clients, or stand out in the beauty industry, lash extensions are a smart move for any beauty professional.
With the right training and tools, you can master this skill and offer a service that clients will keep coming back for. Ready to get started?
Don’t Pull Out Your Hair: Tips to Handle Tough Lash Clients
Don’t Pull Out Your Hair: Tips to Handle Tough Lash Clients
July 31, 2017 by The Lash Professional.
Here at The Lash Professional, we view customer service simply: we want lash clients to feel better leaving our space then when they first walked in. However, we understand that in some situations this can be easier than others. Because lash clients are different in what they need, it’s up to you to find how to do this for each individual person.
Here is some advice on how to handle a few difficult scenarios that are likely to arise at some point with your lash clients.
1) Client shows up late for their lash appointment.
Remember to be patient, kind and understanding. Life Lash Clientshappens, traffic happens, work meetings run over, etc. We are human and we can’t always control our surroundings. If your client is running late and you haven’t heard from them yet, we recommend calling to see if they are still planning to come. Kindly remind them that you will still have the remainder of the allotted service time to get them as full as possible. If you have any extra time or a break after their appointment, consider giving them a little bit of that time as well. Clients will be grateful that you are working around their tardiness; especially if you end up feeding a bit into your break/off time.
**We agree that your time is valuable, and if this is happening regularly, you can kindly remind your client that you have limited time to perform their service, and that their consistent tardiness makes it so you are unable to get their lashes to their full potential.
2) Client comes in and is having a rough day/week and is clearly upset.
Check in with them. Allow them to vent or cry if they need to, and listen with empathetic ears. Your clients come to you for a service that is typically performed every 2-3 weeks, which means they are spending a lot of time with you, so it is imperative that they feel comfortable and safe in your space. Do what you can to make them especially comfortable: offer a blanket, water, Kleenex, etc. Maybe they are looking for some comfort or advice, maybe they just need to vent. Either way, listening and responding in a kind and loving fashion shows that you care.
3) Client calls after the appointment and is upset or unsatisfied with their lashes.
It is important to try your best to turn that unhappy client, into a satisfied, returning client. Listen to their concerns and do what you can to make them happy, even if it means getting them back in as soon as possible for a redo or a complementary service. Remember that a happy client becomes a loyal client, and client referrals are the best way to grow your lash business.
4) Client enters the salon in a bad mood and is taking it out on you.
Start by not taking it personally. You never know what’s going on in someone’s life that may be causing them to be rude or short with you. Remember to be kind, and do what you can to turn their day around. Try to remember that clients are human, which means they’re not perfect. Love them anyway. Give to them anyway. Be kind to them anyway. Kindness always pays off in the long run.
5) Client comes in to the appointment sick.
This one is a judgement call on your part as to how sick they are, and if you feel comfortable performing the service. While it difficult to turn someone away from a service, it is also important that you keep your space clean and free of germs that could get you, or your other clients sick. While you can always keep disposable face masks around (to be worn by you or the client), we recommend advising clients who are sick to reschedule without penalty to their existing appointment. Keep in mind to always be friendly, gracious and kind when explaining to a client why it would be best to see them once they are well again. Be kind!
Overall, when you are having an issue with difficult lash clients, remember to be kind, patient and understanding. The bottom line is that we are all human and you never know what’s going on in someone else’s life. Even in frustrating situations, it’s important to remember to show compassion, empathy and understanding towards your lash clients. This type of impeccable customer service will lead to loyal lash clients and a flourishing business!

Holiday Lash Rush: Don't Let it Get the Best of You!
Holiday Lash Rush – don't let it get the best of you!
November 27, 2017 by The Lash Professional.
The holidays are just around the corner, and you know what that means—holiday lash rush! As a lash artist, this time of year is pure chaos (in the best way). Clients want to look their best for all the holiday parties, family photos, and New Year’s celebrations, which means your schedule is about to be packed.
I’ve survived a few holiday seasons, and let me tell you, preparation is everything. So, let’s dive into how you can get ready for the busiest (and most lucrative) time of the year.
1. Stock Up on Supplies
The last thing you want during the holiday lash rush is to run out of lash trays, adhesive, or spoolies. Take inventory now and order everything you’ll need to make it through the season. Trust me, overstocking is better than scrambling last minute.
Here’s a checklist of must-haves:
-Lash trays (classic, volume, and hybrid).
-Adhesive (don’t forget backups!).
-Tweezers and tools.
-Lash cleanser for prepping.
-Aftercare kits for clients.
Shop premium lash supplies from The Lash Professional here.
2. Update Your Schedule
During the holiday season, everyone wants an appointment yesterday. To avoid burnout, plan your schedule carefully:
-Extend Hours if Needed: Consider adding early mornings or late evenings to fit in extra clients.
-Set a Booking Deadline: Let clients know they need to book by a specific date to secure their spot.
-Limit Last-Minute Appointments: While it’s tempting to squeeze in every request, remember that your time and energy are precious.
Pro Tip: Use scheduling software to streamline your bookings and prevent double-booking.
3. Offer Holiday Promotions
Clients love a good deal, especially during the holidays. Offering special promotions is a great way to attract new clients and reward loyal ones. Here are some ideas:
-Lash Package Deals: Bundle a full set with a discounted fill.
-Referral Discounts: Offer a discount for clients who refer a friend.
-Holiday Gift Sets: Sell lash aftercare kits or gift cards for future services.
4. Prep Your Workspace
With back-to-back appointments, keeping your lash space organized and efficient is crucial. Here’s how to set yourself up for success:
-Organize Your Tools: Keep everything you need within arm’s reach to save time during appointments.
-Sanitize Like a Pro: Make sure your tweezers, lash beds, and tools are cleaned and ready for each client.
-Add a Festive Touch: A little holiday decor can make your space feel cozy and welcoming for clients.
5. Communicate with Clients
Good communication is key during the holiday lash rush. Make sure your clients know what to expect:
-Send Appointment Reminders: Text or email reminders a few days before appointments to reduce no-shows.
-Share Aftercare Tips: Remind clients to avoid oil-based makeup removers and to brush their lashes daily to keep them looking flawless.
-Explain Booking Policies: Be clear about your cancellation and rescheduling policies, especially during this busy time.
6. Protect Your Energy
The holiday lash rush can be exhausting, so don’t forget to take care of yourself, too!
-Schedule Breaks: Block out time for meals and rest between appointments.
-Stay Hydrated: Keep a water bottle nearby to stay refreshed.
-Set Boundaries: It’s okay to say no to extra appointments if it means protecting your mental and physical health.
7. Plan for the New Year
The holiday season is a great time to start thinking about the year ahead. Use the momentum from your busy schedule to set goals for your lash career:
-Reflect on Pricing: Are you charging enough for your services? The holiday season is a good time to evaluate and adjust your rates if needed.
-Invest in Education: Consider taking an advanced lash course to level up your skills.
-Build Your Brand: Use the holiday content you create (think client photos and reviews) to market your business in the new year.
FAQs About the Holiday Lash Rush
1. How Early Should Clients Book for the Holidays?
Encourage clients to book at least 2–4 weeks in advance to guarantee their spot.
2. How Do I Handle No-Shows?
Implement a clear cancellation policy and require deposits for holiday appointments to protect your time.
3. Can I Take Time Off During the Holidays?
Yes! Just communicate your availability early and stick to your boundaries.
Final Thoughts on Holiday Lash Rush
The holiday lash rush is one of the busiest—and most exciting—times of the year for lash artists. With a little preparation, you can manage the chaos, keep your clients happy, and maximize your earnings.
Remember to take care of yourself during the hustle and enjoy the festive spirit. And if you need high-quality supplies or expert training to get through the season, The Lash Professional has your back.
Here’s to a successful (and stress-free) holiday season!
The Best Lash Job | What You Need to Know Before Taking The Job
The Best Lash Job | What You Need to Know Before Taking The Job
August 20, 2018 by The Lash Professional.
Did you know we spend a third of our life at work? Choosing the right lash job is so important because we spend so much time there. The reputation, aesthetics, and energy of a potential role are essential but don't forget one of the biggest, most important things: employment type.
Talking about types of employment sounds boring so no wonder our industry doesn't speak or write about it. But, it is such a big deal, and it should be on your radar. Finding the best lash job can be tricky, but knowing the ins and outs will help you avoid being "tricked" into working for someone who is misguided or sneaky.
"You're hired! We're going to pay you this super high commission, but we're going to classify you as an independent contractor. It will be way better for you because taxes won't come out of your check every month and you can write off all your expenses at the end of the year."
Or so says the owner of the cutest lash salon in your city where you've been dying to work!
Uh, wait, what. What is she talking about? What is an independent contractor? Won't I have to pay taxes? What can I write off? All of a sudden your dream lash job is sounding too good to be true. You're crazy confused and don't know what you should do.
I'm going to break this down for you so you can say YES to the best lash job and a big NO to the one that is trying to fool you.
Employed vs. Self-Employed Lash Artists
According to the IRS, a lash artist is either employed or self-employed. Yep, it's that simple to the IRS; one or the other. There is no gray area when it comes to the IRS. So, what exactly is the difference between being an employed lash artist and a self-employed lash artist? And where does an independent contractor fit into the mix?
Employed Lash Artist
- W-2
- Employer handles taxes
- Scheduled by management
- Approval for time off
- Dress code
- Set services and pricing
- Provided lash supplies
- Protocols and rules
- Mandatory training
- Mandatory meetings
Self-employed lash artist
- Form 1040
- Handles own taxes
- Sets own schedule
- No approval for time off
- No dress code
- Own services and pricing
- Provides lash supplies
- Owns their own business
- Business expense write-offs
Self-Employed vs. Independent Contractor
If you are responsible for paying all of your employment taxes, you are self-employed. It doesn't matter if the lash salon owner calls it "independent" or a "contracted employee" – if you are working for a salon but not employed by the salon, you're self-employed. When a lash salon owner classifies you as an independent contractor, thus self-employed, they are passing off their employment responsibilities to you.
They are releasing their obligations, including:
- Employment taxes
- Protection through discrimination laws
- Coverage under worker's compensation
- Paying minimum wage or overtime
- Complying with to sick time pay laws
Typically, lash salon owners choose to utilize the "independent contractor" classification to free them of responsibility and additional financial expenses at the lash artist's expense. Unless you are truly self-employed and possess all the freedoms that come with self-employment, this structure only serves the lash salon owner's best interests.
Educate Yourself on Your Tax Obligations
Now that you're educated on employment and self-employment, go out there and find your dream lash job! And, one that isn't being tricky.

How to Deal with a Bad Yelp Review - The Lash Professional
How to Deal with a Bad Yelp Review
August 28, 2024 by The Lash Professional.
Have you ever received a bad Yelp review? I have and let me tell you my heart was in pain. The bad review ruined my day, my week and my month. Do you think I’m exaggerating? I’m not! If you’re like me, you take your lash business very seriously and things like a bad Yelp review are very personal.
I wish I could tell you that in my 15 years of owning lash salons I have only received one bad Yelp review; if I said that I would be lying. The thing is, people want to be heard, especially when they’re upset, and that includes your clients. I had to find a way to deal with upset clients’ negative reviews without getting my feelings involved. I just couldn’t let it ruin my day, week, month anymore.
I created this 5-step process to get me through my emotional reaction to bad reviews. I started to pay attention to what clients generally wrote about in bad Yelp reviews and how my response could turn the situation around. I’m a perfectionist, who would have guessed I would have this much experience dealing with upset clients?
Step 1: Listen to the Upset Client
We all have different perspectives, so even if you think this client is full of it, listen and try to understand their side. People want to know that you care enough to listen. They also want you to actually understand their concern. Without listening to understand, you won’t get anywhere with an upset client.
Step 2: Apologize to the Upset Client
Regardless of whether the client is right or wrong, apologize. If the client has offended you, it might be difficult for you to set your pride aside to apologize, but like Nike’s slogan says, “Just do it.” I promise it’s worth it. Remember that one bad Yelp review can reach hundreds and hundreds of potential clients, so bite the bullet and apologize! We want those potential lash clients to be actual clients and not click on your competitor’s page instead of staying on yours. A little “I’m sorry” never hurt anybody.
Step 3: Appreciation for the Feedback
Let the client know that you appreciate them taking time out of their busy life to give you and your lash business feedback. Without feedback, you and your business cannot learn and grow. Even if you can’t find anything to learn from this situation, dealing with this situation is a learning experience in and of itself. Come on; our glass is half full right?! Just be gracious and thank them.
Step 4: Find a Solution
Okay, so you’ve listened to understand, sincerely apologized and thanked them for their feedback, now you need to make it right. Every situation is different, so use your best judgment. Do you need to offer them a complimentary fill? Do you need to provide a complimentary removal? This is where you show the client that you understand and are truly sorry they had a bad experience. Like they say, walk the talk. Whatever you decide to do to make the upset client a happy client, make sure their new experience is perfect. This is your chance to close the deal. You know, the deal of the client changing their 1-star yelp review to 5 shiny stars!
Step 5: Learn
There is always something to learn, right? If the client wasn’t happy with their lash extensions, does the lash artist need additional training or are they just getting complacent? It’s better to find out now and fix the problem before you have to deal with a few more bad Yelp reviews as opposed to just the one. Maybe the lash artist was rude, and you need to address good customer service practices with them. Whatever the issue was, do your best to discuss it with your staff as soon as possible. And if you and your staff can’t find any truth in the client’s complaint, it’s still a learning experience.
Okay, so you completed the 5-step process and the client doesn’t remove or change the bad Yelp review, what now? Respond publicly to the review. Again, hundreds and hundreds of potential clients are going to see this bad review and you should let them know that you did everything you could to make it better. Keep your response upbeat and apologetic. The goal is to have these potential clients think, “Wow, they care,” or, “They really tried to make that client happy,” and ultimately, “Jeez, that might just be a bad client.”
Show these potential clients how well your lash salon treats even unhappy customers through your public response. Even a lousy Yelp review can be a good thing if you respond to it professionally!
I hope by sharing my 5-step process, I’m able to help you deal with your not-so-welcomed reviews too. And for the ones who’ve never received a bad Yelp review, go you!!!

Choosing a Lash Booking System - The Lash Professional
Choosing a Lash Booking System
November 6, 2018 by The Lash Professional.
Are you a salon owner, traveling lash artist, or working out of your home?! Keeping track of appointments gets tricky, so let’s talk lash booking systems! There are a few key features to look for before making a decision. Price, capabilities, and ease are three features you’ll want to focus on. Let’s dive into each one separately and talk about why each is important.
Price
Pricing is obviously something we all look at. We want something efficient that will also not break the bank. In my research, most booking systems for individual lash artists range from $20-$40 per month (adding more than one employee adds to the cost). Booking systems generally will have tier options for pricing. Different price packages will include different capabilities, so be sure to consider each option and what it can do for you!
Capabilities
Capabilities are important! Can your client book online? Is there a built-in no-show policy? Can you issue a refund directly from the app, if need be? These are all questions you should ask yourself while shopping around for lash booking system. You’ll also want to be sure it not only meets your “capability,” but the needs of users, as well. That is IF it allows clients to book online. Which leads me into ease…
Ease
Clients want simplicity in the booking process. User friendly-ness will get you huge brownie points as an artist! If a system is too difficult, clients will navigate away from it (or they may just text or call you, which is inconvenient for YOU!). That actually goes for your website too… everything should be simple and clear and easy to navigate!
PERSONAL TOP 3
Vagaro
First, we’ll talk all about Vagaro! Vagaro’s pricing is based on how many employees there are. This is great for a smaller salon or for an artist who’s on their own. The more employees, the more expensive it is. Another pro is the capabilities and ease of Vagaro; there are multiple ways a client can book online! The pros of Vagaro honestly go on and on, however, there is a con. The only con I could find is that the card reader is not included, it cost $75. For a larger salon this would be fine, but for an individual lash artist, every expense matters.
MindyBody Inc
MindBody is a much more expensive system, in my research. While its pros include features like advanced scheduling options, 2-way SMS notification texts, and custom mobile app, its con is how expensive it is. I wouldn’t recommend this system for an individual or smaller salon, but for a large salon, it would be great!
Styleseat
Styleseat is the last lash booking system we will talk about! It is one of the cheapest options- best of pricing options. Your clients can book online by following your personal link, or they can search for you on the website or app. The app is great for your clients to book wherever they are- there is the capabilities and ease!
Styleseat also has a built-in late/cancellation/no show policy that requires clients to put a credit card on file to schedule, which helps to protect you as artists and your time. The only con to Styleseat is that clients can’t book through a third-party site like Yelp or Facebook.
Now that I’ve covered options and information on what to look for, this is where you take things into your own hands. Consider what you need and know that you are ultimately investing in the success of your business. Whether you are just starting or experienced, you’ll want to find the lash booking system that is going to benefit your future! Whether you choose Vagaro, Mindbody, or Style seat, or whether you have some other options up your sleeve like Square or Salon Iris, consider all options and be sure of your decision.

Eyelash Extension Business Cards
How to Design Eyelash Extension Business Cards
September 23, 2019 by The Lash Professional.
Let’s talk about something that might seem old-school but is still so important—business cards. I know, we’re all obsessed with Instagram and TikTok to promote our businesses, but trust me, a great business card is still a must-have for any lash artist. It’s your chance to make a lasting impression and give potential clients something tangible to remember you by.
If you’re wondering how to design eyelash extension business cards that truly represent your brand, you’re in the right place.
I’ve learned what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to creating business cards that wow clients and grow your business. Let’s dive in!
Why Do You Need Business Cards?
Before we get into the design tips, let’s talk about why business cards are still relevant for lash artists:
Networking on the Go: Whether you’re at a lash conference or chatting with someone at a coffee shop, a business card is an easy way to share your info.
Professionalism: A sleek, well-designed card shows you take your business seriously.
Tangible Reminder: Social media handles are great, but a card gives people something physical to hold onto.
What to Include on Your Business Card
Your business card is small, so every detail matters. Here’s what to include:
1. Your Name and Title
Clients need to know who you are and what you do. Example:
Jane Doe, Lash Artist & Owner
2. Contact Information
Make it easy for clients to reach you:
Phone number
Email address
Website
3. Social Media Handles
If Instagram is your primary portfolio (let’s be honest, it probably is), include your handle! Example:
Instagram: @LashesByJane
4. Services Offered
Briefly list what you specialize in, like:
Classic, Hybrid, and Volume Lashes
Lash Lifts
Aftercare Products
5. Booking Details
If you use an online booking system, include the link or a QR code.
How to Design Eyelash Extension Business Cards
Now for the fun part—designing your cards!
1. Reflect Your Brand
Your business card should match your overall vibe. Are you all about glam and sparkle, or do you prefer a sleek and minimalist look? Use colors, fonts, and designs that reflect your brand personality.
Example for Glam Vibes: Metallic fonts, gold accents, and soft pinks.
Example for Minimalist Vibes: Neutral tones, clean lines, and simple fonts.
2. Choose the Right Layout
A cluttered card is overwhelming, so keep it clean and balanced. Here are two layout ideas:
Front: Your name, title, and logo.
Back: Contact info, services, and social media handles.
Pro Tip: Use one side for essential details and leave the other side for a pop of personality—like your logo or a photo of your best lash set.
3. Add a Logo
If you don’t already have a logo, now’s the time to invest in one. A professional logo adds credibility and makes your brand instantly recognizable.
4. Include a QR Code
QR codes are such a game-changer! Link it to your booking site, Instagram page, or portfolio so potential clients can find you with a quick scan.
5. Pick High-Quality Materials
Your business card should feel as good as it looks. Opt for sturdy card stock with a matte or glossy finish. Consider unique touches like embossed lettering or foil accents to stand out.
Mistakes to Avoid
Even the cutest design won’t work if it’s not functional. Here’s what to avoid:
Too Much Information: Keep it simple and focus on what’s most important.
Tiny Fonts: If clients have to squint, they won’t bother reading.
Low-Quality Printing: A flimsy or pixelated card can make you look unprofessional.
Where to Print Your Business Cards
Once you’ve designed your card, you’ll need a reliable printer.
Here are some options:
Vistaprint: Affordable and customizable.
Moo: High-end options with premium finishes.
Canva: Design and print directly from the platform.
How to Use Your Business Cards
Now that you’ve got gorgeous business cards, it’s time to put them to work:
Always Carry Them: Keep a stack in your purse, car, and lash kit.
Give Them to Clients: Include a card with every service or aftercare kit.
Network Like a Pro: Hand out cards at beauty events, conferences, or even casual meetups.
Add Them to Packages: If you sell lash aftercare products, include a card with each purchase.
Final Thoughts on How to Design Eyelash Extension Business Cards
Your business card is more than just a piece of paper—it’s an extension of your brand and your artistry. With the right design, you can leave a lasting impression that brings in new clients and strengthens your lash business.
So, how to design eyelash extension business cards that stand out? Keep it clean, reflect your vibe, and make sure all the key details are easy to find. And don’t forget to use those cards to network like the boss babe you are.

How Much to Charge for Eyelash Extensions - The Lash Professional
How Much to Charge for Eyelash Extensions
October 7, 2019 by The Lash Professional.
If you’re a lash artist (or thinking about becoming one), one of the most common questions you’ll face is How much to charge for eyelash extensions? Pricing your services can feel tricky, especially if you’re just starting out, but don’t worry—I’ve got you covered.
As a lash artist who represents The Lash Professional, I’ve learned that finding the right pricing balance is about knowing your worth, understanding your costs, and considering your clients. Let’s break it all down so you can confidently set your prices and build your dream lash business!
Why Pricing Matters
Your pricing says a lot about your lash business. It reflects your skills, the quality of your products, and the experience you offer. Charging too little can undervalue your work, while charging too much without delivering on expectations can turn clients away. Finding the sweet spot is key.
Factors to Consider When Deciding How Much to Charge for Eyelash Extensions
How to Calculate Your Prices
Here’s a simple formula to help you figure out your pricing:
Add Up Your Costs
Supplies (lashes, adhesive, tools, etc.).
Rent or studio fees.
Marketing and business expenses.
Determine Your Hourly Rate
Decide how much you want to make per hour. For example, if you want to earn $50/hour and a lash set takes 2 hours, your base price should be $100 (plus the cost of supplies).
Factor in Experience and Market Rates
Adjust your prices based on your skill level and what’s standard in your area.
Tips for Increasing Your Prices
If you’re ready to raise your rates, here’s how to do it without losing clients:
1. Communicate Early
Let your clients know about price changes in advance. A simple message like, “To continue providing the best products and service, I’ll be updating my pricing starting next month,” works perfectly.
2. Add Value
Make sure clients feel like they’re getting their money’s worth. Use high-quality products (like those from The Lash Professional), create a relaxing studio environment, and offer personalized service.
3. Stay Confident
Remember, your skills and time are valuable. Don’t be afraid to charge what you’re worth!
FAQs About Pricing Lash Extensions
1. Should I Offer Discounts When Starting Out?
Yes, offering introductory prices or discounts for new clients can help build your portfolio and attract customers. Just make sure to raise your rates as you gain experience.
2. Can I Charge More for Mobile Services?
Absolutely! If you’re traveling to clients, factor in your travel time and costs.
3. How Often Should I Reevaluate My Prices?

The number one question asked by our students is, “how much money can you make doing eyelash extensions?” My immediate response when I hear this is “ A LOT!” because, seriously, eyelash extension profits can be mind-blowing.
The eyelash extension industry is headed for impressive growth. And it doesn’t show signs of slowing down. Clearly, the market for lashes extensions is present. Are you ready to meet that demand?
A great lash course will teach you the skills you need to become a top tier lash technician. But what about becoming a money-making lasher with a booming business? The Lash Professional is here to share how to do just that. Let’s get this coin.
3 Factors to Calculate Eyelash Extension Profits
Running a profitable eyelash extension business is not all sassy lash puns and cute transformation shots for Instagram. It takes careful planning and knowledge of three key principles.
In business, it is hard to pinpoint exactly what the numbers will be since there are so many variables. But there are general guidelines for determining prospective profit.
Here is our ultimate equation to determine how much money you can make doing eyelash extensions.
Say you charge $150 for a full set of classic lashes and $75 for a classic fill (these are prices that fall within the average range). You can then calculate your earnings as a lash technician charging these prices.
4 full sets (2 hours each) x $150 = $600 after an 8 hour day
6 fills (1 hour each) x $75 = $450 after a six hour day
In reality, you will be doing a mix of full sets and fills each day. Let’s take the average of those two days to say that you make $525 on an average day.
$525 x 5 days a week= $2,625
$2,625 x 50 weeks (2 weeks off for vacation) = $131,250
That means that you have the potential to make over $100k before taxes in one year of lashing. Even after you account for the cost of supplies and certifications, this is an impressive eyelash extension salary.
Of course, there are variables, but this type of calculation can help you answer the question, “how much do lash techs make?”
Beginner Lash Artist Tip: If you want to make a lot of money, you need to charge a lot of money, right?! WRONG. When you are first starting, don’t charge! You should first practice your new skill on family and friends. They can offer honest feedback and help you grow to the artist you want to become.
Once your skills are perfected and your lash speed increases, charge what you are worth. In this industry, it is normal for your prices to increase as your skills increase.
As a business-savvy lash technician, you will want to set your prices by considering the products and application time and what you have invested in learning and perfecting your technique.
Many people ask, “how much do lash techs make?” think there is one blanket answer. The truth is, many factors affect a lash technician’s salary. One factor is location, which goes hand-in-hand with what you are charging.
Where you are located has a lot to do with what clients will pay for eyelash extensions and your overall eyelash extension profits. For instance, lash technicians in Malibu serve a clientele willing to pay more (and tip more) for lash extensions.
Another important consideration to make is the density of eyelash extension salons in your area. If there are a limited number of places offering eyelash extension services, the higher the price of services. A good way to gauge this is by researching what other artists in your area are charging. Doing so will help you find the best price for the services you are providing.
By doing competitor research, you can learn about the prices of other studios in your location and their strengths and weaknesses. For instance, diving into online reviews can show you what customers like and dislike about studios near you. Then, you can tailor your services to address these customer pain points. Standing out in your location makes you more in demand.
Just about anyone will tell you that marketing is probably the most powerful way to build a strong brand. If you want to be successful, you have to get the word out!
Kristie Lorette writes on the importance of marketing for small businesses:
“For a business to succeed, the product or service it provides must be known to potential buyers. Without marketing, your potential customers may never be aware of your business offerings, and your business may not be given the opportunity to progress and succeed.”
Short version—your business can’t grow and thrive if people don’t know you exist.
You can read the full article here. Because lash extensions are a beautiful visual addition to a face, social media (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) offers a great channel to promote your services. But marketing should not stop there.
Digital marketing goes beyond posting a few hashtags. Make sure that you have a strong online presence that people can find on Google. Search engine optimization (SEO) is an important area to learn more about if you want new customers to find you online. By making specific changes to your website, you can open the door for tons of new potential customers to come across your work through search engines.
Word of mouth advertising occurs when your clients spread the word about your lash services to others. To encourage this, you can offer referral discounts to clients that connect you to new customers. If Rachel refers Jen to your studio, Rachel gets a 15% discount on her next set of lashes.

How Much Money Can You Make Doing Eyelash Extensions?
So how much money can you make doing eyelash extensions? Reports indicate that the average lash technician salary is $47,396 per year. On average, lash technicians’ hourly wages range from $20 - $25. These reports often take into account part-time lash technician salaries. As a full-time lash technician, you have the potential to make lots more.
These averages offer a starting point for an eyelash extension salary. But who says you have to be an average lash technician?
While this is the average, there are lash technicians across the country making more than this amount. As your skills grow, you can charge more and become more profitable as a lash professional. Successful lashers on the higher end of the wage scale make upwards of $73,000 each year.
These three components—price, location and marketing—should all be factored into your eyelash extension business. When you combine these elements to determine what you will be charging and how often you will be working, you can calculate how successful you can be! And girl, numbers don’t lie.
For example (assuming the cost of the product is $4 or less for each service, which is average), say I charge $150 for full sets, and average $55 fills. If I take approx. 20-25 clients a week, I have an opportunity to make upwards of $100k a year!
