Lashing is not cheap; we all know lash products can be an investment (even if you know it will pay off). I wish I could tell you there is some secret “black market” society that sells good-quality and inexpensive lash products. Unfortunately, there isn’t. There may not be a “cheap” way to stock up, but there is a “smart” way to do it! Partnering with a lash company is the best way to get inexpensive lash products.

How to Seal Lash Extensions with a Nano Mister
How to Seal Lash Extensions with a Nano Mister

The Nano Mister – What it is, how you use it & why it’s a must have!
No lash appointment is complete, until you have fanned your clients eyes and sealed those new fresh lash extensions with your nano mister. I’m sure there are many lash artists out there who remember a time not too long ago, when our clients would have to wait 24-48 hours to shower, exercise, or wet their lashes (I sure do). Thankfully, as the lash industry has grown and changed over the years. Many new tools and products have emerged that have made it possible for our lash extensions to last longer, and hold up better over time. One of these inventions, is the Nano mister.
If you are:
a) unfamiliar with Nano misters
b) have yet to use or invest in a Nano mister as part of your lashing kit
c) use one, but don’t really understand the reasoning behind it
Then this blog post is for you.
What is a Nano Mister?
A Nano mister is a small, handheld apparatus. It sprays a controlled micro-mist of water from it’s nozzle. It is used in the lash extension application process, after the extensions have been attached to the natural lashes, aiding in efficiently and effectively curing the eyelash extension adhesive.
How does the Nano Mister work?
A commonly asked question since first introducing the Nano misters into our lashing appointments, has been “How does getting the extensions wet help speed up the drying process?”
Here is a simplified answer to the scientific process. Cyanoacrylate, which is the active ingredient in eyelash extension adhesive, must polymerize for the adhesive to dry or “cure”. Polymerization is the act of single molecules reacting together to form a chain of molecules called a polymer. This process turns the adhesive from liquid to solid. Hydrogen, which is found in water, must be present in order for this process to take place. By using a small controlled mist of water, we are able to activate the curing process immediately following the lash extension application. The glue cures in 4 hours!
SCIENCE IS COOL!
Because water is also naturally found in air (in the form of humidity), the lash adhesive would eventually polymerize/cure over time without the use of a Nano mister. However, it would be a much slower process, taking closer to 24-48 hours to cure.
Although using hydrogen (water) is essential in quickly curing the adhesive, the presence of too much moisture can break up the bond of the glue by dissolving the solvent. This is where the Nano mister comes into play, as it sprays a controlled micro-mist of water onto the lashes, automatically shutting off after the 30 second recommended usage time.
How do you use a Nano Mister?
Make sure your Nano mister is fully charged using the included USB cord. Open the door on the back of the device. Remove the rubber stopper from the water tank. Fill the water tank with distilled water.
*Important note* Please only use bottled distilled water to ensure no hard water build up clogs the nozzle of the device.–Replace the rubber stopper in the tank and latch the door closed.–After thoroughly air drying your client’s lashes at the end of the service, hold the Nano mister in an upright position 8-12 inches away from your client’s lashes. Sliding the bottom part of the device downward will turn it on. Move the device back and forth in a swaying motion across your client’s lashes. The mister runs on a timer and will shut off after 30 seconds, the recommended time of use.
What are the benefits to using a Nano mister?
The Nano mister was designed to speed up the adhesive’s curing process. It cuts the window of recommended “drying time” from 24-48 hours, down to 4-10 hours. Aside from allowing the client to wet their lashes sooner, there are other benefits that come with this expedited drying time. Rapid curing leads to fewer irritations and allergic reactions from fumes, as the adhesive stops emitting fumes once initially sealed/cured. Clients are also less prone to dry, red eyes following their appointment, as the Nano mister replenishes any moisture that the naturally moisture-drawn adhesives may have pulled from the eyes during application. If you are not currently using a Nano mister, we recommend you go out and purchase one right away. It is a must-have and will change the way you lash!

Research lash products and programs!
Lash artists should do research on lash companies and what kind of partnerships, wholesale, or ambassador opportunities they offer! The first place I would advise you to check out is our website at http://www.thelashprofessional.com/about/lash-brand-ambassador/. I know what you are thinking, she works for them so she has a biased opinion. I don’t! Of all the research that I have personally done, our ambassador program is the best option! We have few requirements and the best benefits. However, we do understand that maybe our program isn’t perfect for everyone. For that reason, I repeat, do your research!
So, what even is an Ambassador program?
An Ambassador Programs is design by a company who wants to spread awareness. To do so, the company will choose lash artists who have been chosen to represent the brand and lash products in a positive and appealing way to increase the brands awareness. For The Lash Professional, brand awareness is huge. Our brand is centered around sisterhood! Our biggest requirement is that you love and support all the women around you! How hard can that be?
Now how do you become a Brand Ambassador, you ask?
To start, you must be a certified lash artist. Depending on your states regulations, a lash certification is simple to come across. However, most companies will want to know that you are putting your whole heart and soul into your lashing! Some companies will offer you a discount once you become an ambassador of anywhere between 5-25 percent on products! Some companies, such as The Lash Professional, will even offer educator and traveling opportunities.
What else?
Other options for lash product discounts are wholesale or salon partnerships. Though The Lash Pro does not offer wholesale pricing, our Salon Partnership Program is pretty similar. The Lash Professional offers a 30% discount for established salons who want to carry our product exclusively. Other companies do offer whole sale options, though there is usually a lengthy contract involved. Make sure to research, research, research!
Quality is important; for retention, for reputation, and reliability! Therefore, linking up with a lash company is going to benefit you and your client in the long run by keeping quality products in your hands and some extra cash in your pocket!

The Truth about Mink Lashes vs Synthetic Lashes!
The Truth about Mink vs Synthetic Lashes!
December 5, 2017 by The Lash Professional.
Have you ever wondered what the hype was over mink lashes vs synthetic lashes? Me too…How I see it, lashes are the same as everything else that comes “real” or “synthetic”. Would you rather have the luxury fur coat or the fake fur coat. I get it, it’s a status thing, it sounds cooler to have real mink, but does having real mink lashes mean you have real quality lashes? Let’s break it down.
Mink Lashes vs Synthetic Lashes: The ugly part
So, when we are talking real mink, that means REAL MINK. Yes, from a cute little mink animal. Unfortunately, there is cruelty involved when product comes directly from an animal. No, they are not asking the consent of these minks before taking their fur. If you have never done so, I would encourage you to research it. PETA’s media liaison says, “We encourage consumers to choose alternatives to any materials that are derived from animals, ensuring that they are not contributing to an industry that causes suffering.” ( http://www.bostonmagazine.com/fashion-style/2012/01/10/mink-eyelashes-buyer-beware/). So, even if you don’t necessarily use cruelty free products/supplies, I would encourage you to educate your clients on the subject. I have no doubt that most would reconsider their previous mink-related requests.
Mink Lashes vs Synthetic Lashes: The quality and durability
Now that the ugly part is out of the way, let’s talk about the ACTUAL quality and durability of mink lashes vs synthetic lashes. As nice as some luxury lashes may sound and look, mink lashes do tend to appear more fake than synthetic lashes do. From my experience, I have had more clients complain about them than I have had clients praise them. Why? For one, mink lashes tend to appear too silky and don’t hold a curl. Think about it, if mink is coming from an animal, it is similar to our hair. Real hair can be curled, yes, but what happens when that curl gets wet or is subjected to extreme weather? Flat or frizzy! A matte finish on synthetic lashes gives the lash line a dense, more natural look. And due to their synthetic build, they are also design specifically to hold curl!
I know there is some draw to mink lashes because of their light fluffy nature. For the clients who love all the fluff, I would encourage you to try some .03’s! Which a diameter as small as that, fluff should be no problem! Check them out here on our website and let us know what you think. Happy lashes babes!
Breaking down Eyelash Extension Curl and Size
Breaking down Eyelash Extension Curl and Size
February 18, 2021 by The Lash Professional.
There are so many different eyelash extension curls and sizes. Becoming familiar and comfortable with these will be crucial to your success as an artist! And yes, doing so will get easier.
Types of Lash Curls
Let’s start with J curl. J curl lashes aren’t ones that you will use often, but when you do use them you will be jumping for joy that they were an option! This curl is specifically intended for the client who has stick straight lashes that almost seem to point downward. These clients are tricky, and there are a few options you can use. J curl will give them the most natural and simple extension of their natural lashes!
The next option for clients with lashes that are straight is going to be a B curl! This option will give the downward pointing lashes a bit more “lift.” This curl has a bit more curl than a J curl but is still a great option for the client with tricky straight lashes.
I’m going to jump out of order here. The third option for clients with straight lashes is an L+ Curl. An L+ curl is basically a C or D curl with a flat base. Don’t worry, I will cover C and D curl next. Because of the flat base on the L+ curl, you will be able to give your tricky client the ultimate lift and curl will still properly fully adhering the base of the lash! These are, by far, the most visual rewarding.
Ok, as promised, the oh-so popular C and D curls! These are probably the lashes you will use most often. C curl lashes are intended for clients with a slight curl in their natural lash and will create an open-eye effect. D curl lashes are very similar, just curlier! They are intended for a client with a slight-dramatic natural curl who wants a dramatic look! These lashes will brighten and widen the eye and give a very visible curled effect. For even more lift, go with volume D curl lashes.

Eyelash Extension Size Chart and Guidelines
Choosing Lash Extension Sizes
So how do we choose the right length and diameter? First of all, you will generally only use .03 – .10 when doing volume lashes. Second, always follow these two rules of thumb:
1. Chose a length no more than 2-3 mm longer than the clients natural lash.
2. Match the diameter to the client’s natural lash (going only slightly thicker for a more dramatic look).
*Why go only 2-3 mm longer than the clients natural lash and match the diameter?? There are lengths up to 20mm and diameters as thick as .30mm! If your client’s natural lashes are 10mm long and .10 mm thick and you throw on 20mm/.20mm lashes, they will not last and they could possibly even be too heavy! Lashes that are too heavy will cause strain on the lash follicle and could result in sparse regrowth.

Must-Have Eyelash Extension Tools and Products - The Lash Professional
Must-Have Eyelash Extension Tools and Products
February 26, 2018 by The Lash Professional.
There are eyelash extension tools and products that lash artists might refer to as “extras”… and then, there are MUST-HAVE tools and products that lash artists couldn’t lash without! Below I break down the essentials and why you need them for lash extensions. I will also briefly talk about the extras and how they enhance your service.
MUST-HAVE EYELASH EXTENSION SUPPLIES
Lash Tweezers
Tweezers are an essential tool for lashing. You must have two pairs of tweezers to complete a lash service. Why, you ask? The first set of tweezers, isolation tweezers, are strictly for “isolating” each natural lash to ensure a clean application. This means that no other natural lash or extension, other than the one being applied, will attach to the natural lash you have chosen. Isolation tweezers work to single out your natural lash of choice for a flawless application. They are ergonomically designed to ensure this.
The next set of tweezers that you need are lashing tweezers. Yes, this means you will have isolation tweezers in one hand and lashing tweezers in your other hand. You’ use the lash tweezers to pick up and apply the lash extensions. These tweezers can be straight tweezers, which are used for classic lashes, or they can be L-shaped or curved tweezers, which are used for volume lashes.
Because you will use these on every single client for every single service, you may want to invest in tweezers that you love and trust. It will be worth it!
Well, duh! Eyelash extensions are essential for every service, and something you will also want to invest in. Clients wear them all day every day and will notice if you go the cheap route, and some may not take too kindly to it! Invest in some good quality lashes that will hold their curl while still looking natural.
For those of you who don’t lash quite yet, you may be thinking, “Tape? What the heck?” Well it’s going to become your best friend…believe me! Tape is used prior to lashing to hold down stubborn bottom lashes. Without tape, lower lashes criss-cross with the upper lashes, which could result in a client’s eye getting glued shut. That’s just not good for business.
Medical safe tape that’s gentle enough to use around the delicate eye area is best.
Having these babies on hand throughout your service will keep your lashes upright, in order, and separated. Without brushing your the lashes, they may fully adhere at a strange angle, or worse… STICK! Lash brushes are good for so many reason, but their number one purpose is to ensure everything is staying separated. You may run into a sticky (literally) situation that a lash brush can’t get you out of, but 90% of the time your lash brushes will have your back.
You need primer to apply to every lash, for every client, for every service! Why? Because primer ensures that all debris and oils are stripped from the lashes prior to application. This will make a huge difference in your client’s retention, particularly because once they walk out the door we don’t know what they do or how they treat their lashes. It is up to them to follow the guidelines for optimal retention. We can’t control every aspect of retention, but one thing we can do is use primer.
If a client has leftover mascara and oils on their lashes when you apply their lash extensions, the adhesive won’t last. So what do we do? We use primer! And we apply the primer with microbrushes! Using a q-tip or any other method may result in lint particles on your client’s lashes or dripping of product! Based on personal experience, I can tell you that primer BURNS if it seeps into your eye. So do everyone a favor and just keep those two things handy: primer and microbrushes.
Now, the thing that will hold everything together, literally! Adhesive is probably the most important part of each service. Finding an adhesive that you can trust is vital to your career. Research your options and make sure you have a good adhesive ready for every single service.
EYELASH EXTENSION EXTRAS
There are so many things that you can invest in to enhance each service, as well as your clients experience and even their retention. I am only going to mention a few, but I am going to do so in order of how you should prioritize them:
You will need remover once you start lashing, but it isn’t needed for every service. You will benefit from having it in cases where you have a client come in with not-so-good lash work (meaning their lashes are completely jacked!). Some clients may even just want their lashes removed for various reasons. This is something you should prepare for.
Eye pads will make the appointment so much for comfortable for your client. And, girl, your client’s comfort is the MOST IMPORTANT! Eye pads will also ensure that all of those little bottom-lashes stay tucked and secure.
These have two completely different uses, but they fall into the same category here because they work well together.
A lash tile will help keep you organized by giving you easy access to your lashes and keeping track of what is where. A crystal stone is your solution to “Where do I put my adhesive?” It’ll keep your adhesive fresh for longer and it regulates the temperature.
Nano misters speed up the adhesive’s curing process and cut the window of recommended “drying time” from 24-48 hours, down to 4-10 hours! They are pretty cool and definitely an extra you should consider looking into.
The Lash Professional’s Educator and Ambassador Julie blogged about how to seal lash extensions with a nano mister. She explains how they work and why you would benefit from having one. If you have some extra time, I highly recommend reading her post. And if you have some extra money, I would highly recommend investing in one!

Professional Lash Extension Tweezers 101 - The Lash Professional
Professional Lash Extension Tweezers 101
May 21, 2018 by The Lash Professional.
There’s no question that lash artists can’t use just ANY tweezers to lash. Yet there are so many lash extension tweezers out there, from different brands and quality tweezers, to different sizes and shapes! There aren’t many resources that break these products down for artists who are new in this space. Consider this your Professional Lash Extension Tweezers 101 Crash Course!
Tweezers for Eyelash Extensions
It’s true, there are TONS of tweezers for lash extensions. They break up into sub-categories, though, so I’m going to focus on those sub-categories to make sure you are fully acquainted with them, before diving deeper! So, of all of these tweezer options, what tweezers are the best tweezers to use, and in what situations do you use them?
What are they? These are the most straightforward and, in my opinion, the most important! They are straight tweezers with a slight curve on the underside that allows the artist to place them against the client’s brow without having them extend and rest on the lid of the eye.
What are they used for? Isolation duh. These babies will keep your work clean and simple. They allow the artist to separate and ISOLATE each individual lash that they intend to extend, preventing any adhesive from migrating to other lashes.
When are they used? ALWAYS! Whether the artist is applying classic or volume, they will absolutely always want to use isolation tweezers.
Are there different variations? Yes, slight variations of curves are available to cater to specific artist preferences.
What are they? Straight tweezers are generally what artists start out with. They are literally straight…tweezers… yep. Just straight. They are long and narrow with a tapered point at the end.
What are they used for? They allow the artist to easily pick up and place individual extensions on each isolated natural lash.
When are they used? Straight tweezers are most commonly used for classic lashes (one lash extension to one natural lash).
Are there different variations? There are variations of straight tweezers. They mostly range in size and length, which is based on artist preference.
What are they? These babies will make an artist the most money so listen up! Volume lash extension tweezers are long and always have some sort of curvature at the tip that tapers to a point!
What are they used for? The curvature at the tip of volume tweezers allows artists to pick up and grip multiple lash extensions at one time. Our Curved Lash Tweezer makes creating volume fans a breeze.
When are they used? Volume tweezers are used specifically for volume lashes (multiple lash extensions to one natural lash). They make it easy to create a lash fan and to manipulate multiple lash extensions at a time!
Are there different variations? There are variations of volume tweezers. Two of the most common volume tweezers are J tweezers and L tweezers.
What are they? They are named J and L because of the curvature at the tip. L tweezers taper into a 120-90 degree angle at the tip, which closely resembles an “L”. J tweezers taper to more of a curved 150-120 degree curve closely resembling a J.
What are they used for? L tweezers are generally used to pick up five or more lashes at a time, as they give the artist more surface space to grip the lashes (along the “straight” of the “L,” refer to 1:15 in the video below for visual reference). J tweezers are used for five or fewer lashes as they have less surface space to grip (refer to 1:25 in the video below). Many artists choose to use one or the other because of comfort, though, rather than quantity of lashes.
Features of High Quality Lash Tweezers
There is one thing you must must must (must) remember when you are on the hunt for last tweezers: You get what you pay for. Do NOT go the cheap route. There are affordable, high quality tweezers. I promise! Do not sacrifice the quality of your daily lash tool for a low price. Quality is the most important thing to look for in extension tweezers.
Finding “quality” is so easy, too. Just search for medical grade steel. Yep, it is that easy. Medical grade steel sterilizes, doesn’t rust, and is sturdy! Be careful though, I have run in to some professional companies that advertise their tweezers as medical grade steel, yet they rusted! Totally not cool. Your lash extension tweezers are your best friend so be sure you buy tweezers from a reputable company that you trust and always test your tweezers to ensure they don’t rust or bend easily.
Where to Buy Eyelash Extension Tweezers
Like I said, there are tons of places that sell lash extension tweezers. You can easily find tweezers on Amazon, Wishapp, as well as a lot of wholesale manufacturers overseas! The quality lash suppliers and companies are a little harder to find, though. Dig deep and look for good reviews. Avoid buying lash products from large internet retailers and stick to companies that specialize in your trade!
Ok… now I’m going to go on a mini rant about The Lash Professional, because I really just love and support their products and company! The Lash Professional tweezers are medical grade steel, they have glowing reviews, and I use them EVERY day. They are perfectly, ergonomically designed to help lash artists lash to the best of their ability! Check them out and grab a pair while you are at it; you will be so glad you did.
Your lash tweezers will be with you through thick and thin. One day your tweezers will wear (they are very fragile) and need to be replaced. When that day comes, make sure you know everything there is to know about tweezers and what you want (and need). If you take away one thing from my jibber-jabber about lash tweezers, remember quality is most important and you get what you pay for!
Mink vs Silk vs Synthetic Lashes - The Lash Professional
The Truth About Mink vs Silk vs Synthetic Lashes
July 16, 2018 by The Lash Professional.
The debate of cruelty vs cruelty-free products has been in the hot seat for quite some time, and I don’t foresee it going anywhere, anytime soon. How I see it, lashes are the same as everything else that comes “real” or “synthetic” or “faux” (synthetic and faux being the same thing). Would you rather have the luxury, real fur coat or the faux fur coat. So, which lashes are the best option: mink, silk or synthetic?! I get it, it’s a status thing, it sounds cooler to have real mink or real silk, but does having genuine lashes mean you have real quality lashes? Now keep in mind, this blog is my opinion and we are all entitled to our own! Try to follow along, though, and look at it from my point of view.
Overview of Lash Types
Mink Lashes
Straight from a fluffy, little animal, mink is real fur… Yes, as in an ANIMAL! Generally, manufacturers collect from mink farms. Real mink is desirable because of its reputation for being “luxurious”.
It comes straight from the cocoon of a silk worm and is desirable because it is shiny and usually associated with luxury. When it comes to silk lashes though, they are generally synthetic. That’s right, genuine silk lashes are hard to come by, though they are still requested in high volume!
Synthetic lashes are designed to look like one of two things: mink or silk! Whether synthetic mink or synthetic silk, the lashes are made in a factory and are cruelty free. Because of that, both are becoming very desirable. Between the two, synthetic mink is rapidly gaining popularity due to its long-lasting quality and dark, matte finish!
Origin of Products
I’m going to start with mink, because it is the most controversial. When we are talking real mink, that means REAL MINK. Yes, from a cute little mink. Unfortunately, there is cruelty involved when a product comes directly from an animal. Despite disclaimers saying, “Our real mink lashes are cruelty-free”, there is no way to prove or confirm the truth in that. But I would assume that they are not asking the consent of these minks before taking their fur. If you have never done so, I would encourage you to research it. PETA’s media liaison says,
“We encourage consumers to choose alternatives to any materials that are derived from animals, ensuring that they are not contributing to an industry that causes suffering.”
So, even if you don’t use all cruelty free products/supplies, I would encourage you to educate your clients on the subject. I have no doubt that most would reconsider their previous mink-related requests.
That goes for silk, too. Seems a little less intense, but do you know where silk comes from? A worm. Yes, a yukky, squiggly, little worm. It is taken from the silkworms cocoons. They boil the little helpless worms alive inside their cocoons. PETA has something to say about that too. Read it here. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am no friend to creepy critters, but a creature is a creature and cruelty is cruelty. Next time your client (or a potential client) asks if you carry silk or what your opinion on it is, just let them know you are cruelty-free! It’s something to be proud of.
Now, synthetic mink and synthetic silk, both being manufactured products, also have their own chemical composition. Each composition contains a PBT base. PBT means Poly Butylene Terephthalate and is a semi-crystalline synthetic engineered thermoplastic. Synthetic silk is heated and molded into the desired size and curl and is given a shiny, “silk-like” finish. Synthetic mink is also heated and molded and then is given a deep, matte finish. Because of its finish, synthetic mink is much more desirable. It gives a fuller and more natural finish to any set of extensions, classic or volume!
Mink vs Silk vs Synthetic: Quality and Durability
Now that the ugly part is out of the way, let’s talk about the ACTUAL quality and durability of mink, silk and synthetic lashes. As nice as some luxury lashes may sound and look, mink and silk lashes do tend to appear more fake than synthetic lashes do. From my experience, I have had more clients complain about them than I have had clients praise them. Why? For one, mink and silk lashes tend to appear too shiny and don’t hold a curl. Think about it, if mink is coming from an animal, it is similar to our hair. Real hair can be curled, yes, but what happens when that curl gets wet or is subjected to extreme weather? Flat or frizzy! Same with silk, though obtained from a cocoon fiber, it is not durable and will not hold curl in extreme conditions or for long periods of time.
Living things were not intended to be used for lashes…
…so of course, they were not designed to meet our every lash need. Because synthetic lashes were specifically designed to meet all our lash needs, they are a great option for quality and durability. Synthetic silk is less sought after, due to its sheen finish, but the matte finish on synthetic mink lashes gives the lash line a dense, more natural look. Specifically designed to hold curl and withstand extreme conditions, synthetic is the way to go. Though they don’t yet have the reputation for being as luxurious as genuine mink and silk, they will soon! Being cruelty-free is becoming an epidemic and one that we want everyone to be a part of!
The curious clients aren’t going anywhere, they will always want to know about more “luxurious” alternatives. It is our job, as the professionals, to educate them! If you have clients who love all the fluff, I would encourage you to try some .03’s! With a diameter so small, fluff should be no problem! Check them out here on our website and let us know what you think.
Happy lashing babes.
What to Look for in a Lash Extension Primer - The Lash Professional
What to Look For in a Lash Extension Primer
August 13, 2018 by The Lash Professional.
Lash Extension Primer: A service necessity… But do you know what is in it and when you do and don’t need it?! Don’t you worry your pretty little lashes ladies, I’ve got you covered! Try to keep up as I briefly explain the composition of Lash Extension Primer and how it helps your business.
Lash Extension Primer Ingredients
Not all primers are made equal; just about every primer has a different ingredient list and formulation! This set of ingredients is one that I stand by and believe has worked most effectively for me and my clients.
Primer ingredient number 1 is Dimethyl Ketone, which is a chemical compound that many of us may know as acetone. Acetone does some pretty crazy stuff. One thing we probably know well is how it can dissolve adhesive from our lash stones. In incredibly small amounts though (I’m talking like the tiniest amounts) acetone merely acts as an astringent, sucking out oil and dirt.
Another acting astringent, and ingredient number 2, in lash extension primer is Poly Ethanol…or alcohol! There are very small amounts of it in Lash Extension Primer, but just the right amount to ensure all the dirt and oil is removed prior to the service. The alcohol in primer may also helps prevent reactions on clients with sensitive eyes. That’s right! In moderation things like this can be beneficial.
The last ingredient in our primer is good ol’ H20. The purpose of the water in primer is to dilute the other ingredients to an appropriate and safe percentage to work wonders on our lovely clients!
Do’s and Don’ts of Lash Extension Primer
So, when should you be using primer on clients? In my day-to-day lashing experience, I would say primer is necessary about 70 percent of the time. The clients I avoid using primer on are the ones with very dry skin and the ones with very teeny-tiny frail lashes.
I avoid using it on clients with dry skin because, well, their lashes most likely don’t need help with oil! In fact, using primer in situations like these may actually cause lash-breakage as the primer is designed to suck up excess oil. If there is not excess oil, the primer may suck up necessary/healthy oils!
I also avoid primer on clients with teeny-tiny, frail lashes as their lashes may not be strong enough to handle even the very small amounts of Dimethyl Ketone and Poly Ethanol. You may want to use a saline solution of sorts in situations like these, though, to ensure the lashes are clean and ready to go!
My Fav Primers
Lash Bomb Lash Extension Primer
Lash Bomb’s lash extensions primer is one to look into. Since being in the lash world, I’ve dabbled here and there with different products and brands and this one is definitely on my fav list. Not to mention, they are local to us here at The Lash Professional!
Next is Sugar Lash Pro’s lash extension primer. Though they are not huge advocates of primer, in general, their primer does work great! They are a Canadian-based company, but they do ship to the U.S.!
Last but certainly not least, this product is my top fav…hands down. It works consistently and well with all the clients I use it on. Product ingredients are hard to find online, but The Lash Professional wants to be sure customers and artists have as much information as possible. They even post their MSDS Sheets right on their website!

8 Eyelash Extension Application Tools For Professionals
8 Eyelash Extension Application Tools For Professionals
June 19, 2019 by The Lash Professional.
Where would we be without our favorite pair of tweezers? The tools of a lash artist are paramount to her success. After all, would you trust a lash technician who uses faulty equipment? Combined with exceptional technique, the appropriate tools can mean big opportunities for up and coming lash artists!
Stay tuned because we have the low-down on what eyelash extension application tools the professionals are using to create flawless looks!
Lash Like A Pro With These Eyelash Extension Application Tools
Tweezers
We said it once, and we’ll say it again, we don’t know where we would be without our eyelash tweezers! This little tool is an extension of your hand and helps you place lash extensions precisely. Don’t sell yourself short – purchase a set of tweezers that allow you to maneuver the delicate area with care.
Listen up, lash babes, this is important! The eyelash glue that you use matters. Glue applied near the eye can cause a host of preventable issues like red eye and allergic reactions. In this case, it is important to have a gentle glue that is safe to use near the eye.
We can’t express to you how important this eyelash application tool is! Primer is used before lash extensions are used to clean the client’s natural lashes of oils and debris. Ultimately, the primer makes the application process smoother. In addition, it increases the longevity of the extensions.
No more pesky fly-away lashes! Eyelash gel pads secure the lower lashes in place to allow for a clean an efficient application. Don’t accidentally snatch a few natural lashes when your applying lash extensions!
Again, we are all about efficiency! If gel pads aren’t your gig, try a few strategically placed pieces of medical tape to secure the lower lashes out of the way.
Don’t get caught without this tool! It may seem counterproductive to keep lash remover on-hand; however, it is useful to keep in your professional eyelash extensions kit. Lash remover is particularly useful when you have clients that want ill-placed lashes that need to be removed before a new set of lashes are applied.
What is a nano mister? It is a small device that sprays a micro-mist of water. Even more, a nano mister is used after the extensions are applied to cure the eyelash extension glue. As a result, it takes less time for eyelash glue to dry and, in most cases, an efficient dry makes it possible for lash extensions to last longer, and hold up over time.
Fan and separate the lashes with a lash brush! Even more, disposable brushes make for a useful client souvenir so that they can maintain their fluffy lashes at home.
Use Your Eyelash Extension Application Tools Like A Boss
Those are only a few of our favorite tools that you will undoubtedly use at some point in your lash tech career. However, a word from the wise, without the proper lash extension technique and knowledge, not even the best tools can send you skyrocketing to the top of the diva’s list.
The Lash Professional is proud to offer lash extension courses online! In addition, the lash ladies facilitate in-person lash training at their premier headquarters in Downtown Scottsdale. If you want to start a new career or just need to brush up on your technique, contact The Lash Professional to find a class that fits your needs!
Ultimate Guide to Eyelash Extension Supplies
Ultimate Guide to Eyelash Extension Supplies
August 7, 2019 by The Lash Professional.
We all want to work with the best eyelash extension supplies right? How are we going to be the best lash artist or lash tech if we have not so great eyelash extension supplies? We can't! Literally, we freakin' can't! So, we got together our favorite all-star lash squad to write up the ultimate guide to save you from any unnecessary confusion and frustration. Thank the lash Gods! If you're creating a professional eyelash extension kit, check out the breakdown, we got you.
Lash Adhesive
Lash adhesive is lash glue. It's the same damn thing boo. People just want to be fancy and use a bigger word. People as in us and, well, everyone else in our industry! Whether you call it adhesive or glue, it doesn't matter, but what does matter is that you use a good one. Our lash crew broke adhesive, also known as glue, down for you so you can actually understand it and choose the one that works best for you and your clients.
Black or Clear Eyelash Extension Adhesive
Black Eyelash Extension Adhesive
This lash glue is the most common glue. Almost every lash adhesive ingredient list is going to have carbon black, which makes the glue black. Why are they mostly black? Well, a majority of your clients are going to get black eyelash extensions and a black adhesive works perfectly with it. Matchy, matchy, lashes and glue!
Although many lash techs or artists don't use clear lash glue as frequently as they use black lash glue, it's nice to have clear adhesive as part of your eyelash extensions supplies. Lash babe, just be prepared!
For clients who want brown or colored eyelash extensions, clear eyelash glue is the way to go! Clear eyelash extension adhesive will allow a seamless bond between the extension and the natural lash. Additionally, if your client has experienced an allergic reaction to the black lash adhesive, it may be due to the carbon black. Since carbon black is present in all-black lash adhesives, clear eyelash adhesive might just be the best option for them. It's worth a try either way! If you're interested in a really good one, try our Invisa-Bond Clear Eyelash Adhesive or N1 Eyelash Extension Glue. You won't be disappointed!
Drying Time of Lash Adhesive
Fast Drying Time
The Lash Professional loves a fast-drying eyelash extension adhesive! If the lash glue dries in 2 seconds or less, we are a fan. We can work fast AF. But if you're not an experienced lash artist (don't worry we have all been there), don't use it. Just say no! You won't be able to move fast enough to actually adhere the extension or extensions to the natural lash. You'll end up having sucky retention which means you'll end up with a bunch of angry clients. No thanks! Also, keep in mind if you are lashing in low humidity, your fast drying lash adhesive is going to dry uber, uber-fast. Maybe even too fast. If that's the case try a medium drying time lash adhesive. We got tricks!
Try our N1 Eyelash Adhesive for that 1 second drying time!
We are a fan of medium drying lash adhesive because sometimes our favorite fast-drying glue is drying too damn fast. For example, during the month of July in Arizona, our 1-second drying eyelash extension adhesive dries in half a second due to how freakin' dry it is. No Bueno. We like fast, but we like retention better. During these hot months, we turn our love to something that will dry slower. Medium drying lash glue is also great for the lash artist who is still working on their speed. Hey, we've all been there and there is no shame in the game! If this is you...
We all need a slow drying adhesive in our eyelash extension supplies. Why? Because slow-drying adhesive has less of the chemicals that people react to. Slow drying glue is usually a sensitive glue. And we all have at least a few sensitive clients...in more ways than one right?! We don't judge! I already cried twice today.
Try our N5 Sensitive Eyelash Adhesive on those sensitive clients!
Different Eyelash Extensions
Okay, so you got your lash adhesive/glue figured out, now you need to know how to pick the right types of eyelash extensions. There are an overwhelming amount of options and lash extension styles, but as you know, we like to break it down piece by piece: what they are made of, curl, thickness and length. Everything is so much easier when you break it down, isn't it? Here's what you should know about types of eyelash extensions!
Mink Lashes vs Silk Lashes vs Synthetic Lashes
So, when we are saying mink, we mean REAL MINK. Yes, from a cute little mink animal. And, when we are saying silk, we are saying silk that comes from the silkworm. As nice as some luxury lashes may sound and look, they're not so "cool" when you think what they are actually made of. Also, mink and silk lashes do tend to appear more fake than synthetic lashes.
From our years and years of experience, we've have had more clients complain about these luxury lashes than we have had clients praise them. Why? For one, mink and silk lashes appear too shinny or too matte and don’t hold a curl like a synthetic lash. A semi-matte finish on synthetic lashes gives the lash line a dense, more natural look. And due to them being synthetic, they are also designed specifically to hold a curl! Basically, go synthetic and you'll be happy! You also won't have to think about all that weird stuff like what they're doing to those cute little animals and how worm stuff is on your client's eyes.
Eyelash Extension Curls
Have you heard of a J curl eyelash extension? J curl lashes aren’t used often anymore, but if you decide to give them a try you will be jumping for freakin' joy you did! This curl is specifically intended for the client who has stick straight lashes and for the ones who like that ultra-natural look. Hey, there is still some of us out here looking for that natural look! Maybe J is too natural for your client's. Then step up your lash extension styles and try a B curl. This curl has a bit more curl than a J curl but is still a great option for the client with tricky straight lashes and want a natural look. Ah, the options!
Okay, so you and your clients aren't into those natural curls, then C, CC, and D were made for you! These different eyelash extensions are probably the lashes you will use most often anyway. What can we say? People like drama! C curl lashes are intended for clients with a slight curl in their natural lash and will help create an even more open-eye effect. D curl lashes are very similar, just curlier! They are intended for a client with a slight-dramatic natural curl who wants that extra dramatic look! And as you probably guess, CC is right in the middle of these two curls. All three of these curls will give your client a very visible curled effect. Hey, there is something for everyone!
So how do you choose the right diameter? How do you pick the right diameter for your client? One easy trick is to match the diameter to the client’s natural lash and if they want something more dramatic go slightly thicker. We want to avoid going too think because we want to keep our client's natural eyelashes healthy. Why? So they can keep coming back to you, duh!
The trick with eyelash extension length is to only go 2-3 mm longer than the clients natural lash. There are eyelash extension lengths up to 17mm, but if your client’s natural lashes are 8mm long and you throw on 17mm lashes they will not last. That long extension will add way too much weight to the natural lash and the poor baby just won't be able to hold it up for very long. If that stubborn little natural lash is able to hold the extension for a while, it will 100% droop down. Make smart choices lash artists! Your clients will appreciate it and you'll make more dinero in the long run.
Don't Forget these Eyelash Extension Supplies!
There is one thing you must remember when you are on the hunt for lash tweezers: you get what you pay for. Isn't that with anything in life?! Do NOT go the cheap route. There are affordable, high-quality tweezers out there, essential to your collection of eyelash extension tools. Quality is the most important thing to look for in eyelash extension tweezers. Lash tweezers are one of the most important tools in your eyelash extension supplies, so choose wisely baby!
Doesn't everyone have their favorite isolation tweezer they literally can't live without? Basically, these tweezers are straight tweezers with a slight curve on the underside that allows the artist to place them against the client’s brow without having them extend and rest on the lid of the eye.
Straight tweezers are generally what artists start with. They are literally straight. They are long and narrow with a tapered point at the end that allows the artist to easily pick up and place individual extensions on each isolated natural lash. We like an easy pickup!
These babies will make an artist the most money so listen up sugar! Volume lash extension tweezers come in different variations but always have some sort of curvature at the tip that tapers to a point! The curved tip allows the artist to pick up and grip multiple lash extensions at one time, woot, woot! Pick one that has a tight grip and a secure closing so you can make those mega volume fans. Aren't those just so pretty?!
Both of these eyelash extension supplies can be used to cover the bottom lashes. Why do we want to do that? Well for the ones that don't know, so we know what lashes to lash and we don't glue our client's eyes shut. What a freakin' nightmare that would be!
Eyelash gel pads secure the lower lashes tightly in place to allow for a clean and efficient application. Wow, that sounded professional! But really that's what they do. They also feel really good to the client, think nice and cool baby! Clients are softies for these. Try them and you'll see why!
If gel pads aren’t your thing, try a few strategically placed pieces of medical tape to secure the lower lashes. This won't feel the best for the client, but it is the least expensive option for you. Decisions, decisions...
This little baby will remove any debris or oils from the natural lashes prior to your application. This must-have product makes a huge difference in your client’s retention. We can’t control every aspect of retention, but one thing we can do is use primer. Are you a control freak like us? Uh, life is hard! try Tlp's Lash Extension Primer to control your controlling!
A client comes in with not-so-good lash work, what do you do? Remove them! A client has an allergic reaction, what do you do? Remove them! You never know what will happen, so be safe and make sure you have a gentle remover in your lash stash. Be prepared! You can thank us later! Be safe and sound and get this gentle Lash Extension Remover.
Eyelash Extension Supplies: Other Must-Have Tools
Lash Brushes
Having these babies on hand throughout your service will keep your lashes upright, in order, and separated. Send your client's home with the one you used during their service. They love that stuff. Be extra boo!
These have two completely different uses, but they fall into the same category because they work oh so well together. A lash tile will help keep you organized by giving you easy access to your lashes and keeping track of what is where. A crystal stone is your solution to “Where do I put my adhesive?” An eyelash extension tile will keep your adhesive fresh for longer and it regulates the temperature. These two were made for each other; perfect partners!
Nano misters speed up the adhesive’s curing process and cut the window of recommended “drying time” from 24 hours, down to 4 hours! They are pretty cool and definitely an extra you should consider looking into. so go ahead and look into it right now!
Lashing ain’t easy baby. But this ultimate guide should make it easier to understand the must-have eyelash extension supplies to add to your stash! To get all the supplies you need in one place, pick up one of our professional eyelash extension kits. If you have questions, you know where to find me.
Lash Lift Supplies
Lash Lift Supplies
September 24, 2019 by The Lash Professional.
Nice to see you again, lash boss. If you're here, you're probably curious about what products are necessary for a lash lift, and what the products do. As always, I'm here to help a girl out! There are a few different steps in a lash lift, but for the most part, lash lift supplies are pretty simple.
Lash Lift Supplies
Think of lash lift rods as hair curlers for your eyelashes. The rods are what the lashes mold to in order to curl. So, as you can imagine, not every single person can use the same size rod, which is why there are different sizes! These come in small, medium, and large. You can vary the usage of these depending not only on the length of your client's lashes, but the look that they want. The most popular size is small, because it gives clients the tightest curl out of the three rods. If a client has really short lashes, the small rod would probably be best for them. The lash lift rod adheres to the top of the client's eyelid, just above their lash line.
Your client's lashes need to stick to the rod somehow, and this is where lash lift glue comes in. It's pretty straightforward. You apply the special lash lift glue to the lash lift rod, and use curved tweezers or another eye-safe tool to adhere your client's lashes to the rod. This may seem self-explanatory, but it's important that you only ever use a lash lift-specific glue for this, because it's safe on lashes and skin.
The lash lift lotion creates the curl. Think of a hair curling iron. The iron creates the shape, just like our lash lift rod. The heat creates the curl. In this case, the lift lotion is the heat!
The lash setting lotion is what keeps the curl in place once the glue and rod is removed. Continuing on with our curling iron metaphor, the setting lotion is the hairspray that holds the curls in place. Without the setting lotion, the lashes wouldn't hold the curl for as long as it's supposed to (6-8 weeks).
The most important thing, no matter what, is making sure that your client's lashes are not damaged from the services that you're providing. The lash nourish lotion will seal the cuticles of the lashes and moisturize them. We've all fried our hair before, whether it was from bleach or too much heat. It sucks. Don't put anyone's lashes through that! Nourish!
All of these lotions can be applied with microbrushes. Microbrushes are just really tiny brushes that help product get between lashes. Along with microbrushes, another product that you should use during any kind of lash service are eyepads. Eyepads protect the lower lashes and the skin underneath a client's eyes during a service.
Now that you know the basics of lash lift supplies, maybe you want to further your bad-a*sery and take a lash lift training course. Lash lifts are a great, more natural alternative for a lot of people, so it's always beneficial to be able to offer clients a range of services.
That's all folks!
